The Search for Nemo is on!
We couldn’t have asked for a better first day of Colour War! The weather was perfect (sunny but not too hot, a great breeze to propel the sailing and windsurfing competitions) and everybody’s spirits and energy were through the roof. We started the day with a fierce game of Scavination (a great camp wide game […]Continue
COLOUR WAR HAS BROKEN!!!
It was a very exciting night indeed as the whole camp was brought down to the front of the Main Lodge for the Colour War break skit! Everyone was abuzz with excitement and anticipation… and THRILLED to learn that this year’s theme is (drumroll please) FINDING NEMO!!!! The skit was a theatrical masterpiece, complete with an […]Continue
Mini Camp! Mini Camp!
It was a wet but wonderful day on the planet – we didn’t let the rain get us down! In fact, we put on our rain gear and jumped in the puddles and showed that Arowhon campers keep going through rain or shine and always find the silver lining in our Algonquin clouds. Despite the […]Continue
The rain finally came today and we were so glad for the cool-down it provided after so many days of overbearing heat! We had our campfire indoors where it was dryer and thanks to the drama staff’s tech savviness we even had a virtual bonfire crackling in the background! There were 3 touching 10 year jacket […]Continue
Today we sent 30 campers in the voyageur canoe to paddle to Camp Tamakwa to represent Arowhon in activity competitions on land and lake and they made us so proud!!! Our campers showed incredible sportsmanship, skill, and dedication (and came out on top in most of their competitions too!). They were welcomed home like the […]Continue
We just watched the annual Glowstick Paddle…. The whole camp sitting in front of the Main Lodge watching the best kayakers in camp performing kayak ballet – pinwheels, pivots in groups, kayak rolls galore… And all magically visible to us because the kayak instructors duct taped literally hundreds of glowsticks to every kayak and to […]Continue
Rustic Lounge Productions Does it Again!
What an evening!!! The Junior plays are always adorable, but the quality of tonight’s production of Hercules was unprecedented! The juniors’ unbelievable talent and dedication provided us with a show to be proud of – they projected their voices so well, remembered all of their lines, sung in tune, and showed real theatrical skill! The […]Continue
The weather gods smiled again today
It rained last night and today dawned sunny and super warm again. We’re grateful for the rain at night because the Algonquin Park forest needs it. And we need not to have a fire ban in the Park, because canoe trips need campfires…. And soon it will be Colour War, and what would the Colour […]Continue
What a day on the planet! It started out with the whole camp being called to a “meeting” after breakfast on the Main Lodge steps – in came a “travelling carnival troupe” asking for help because their caravans had broken down. Since there weren’t any auto mechanics on site, the crew had to stay and set […]Continue
The expected rain barely came at all today and the heat wave is still with us – but we have no complaints because we have such a refreshing lake to jump into to cool down! There was great wind in the afternoon for the 2nd and 3rd qualifying heats of the Wayne Peck sailing race […]Continue
