Dance party at dinner
The Junior Boys did an evening activity skit at dinner that got the entire dining hall up and dancing…. To be eight years old and get several hundred people dancing must be a great feeling… It was a windy afternoon and our campers on the lake – windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking – all showed […]
ContinueThe Green Leech Canoe Race
Some Juniors asked me at dinner tonight when the Green Leech Canoe Race started. It was in the 1950’s, when some believed there was a green leech monster living across the lake near Green Leech Rock. Somebody challenged the camp to a race around Green Leech Island – to banish the monster… And so today […]

I stood on my cabin porch and watched girls training for the Whitney marathon canoe trip paddle and portage circuits through camp… Then it was Sunday sleep in and brunch,… And distance swims… 60+ campers swam lake swims with staff in canoes lifeguarding each swimmer… Swimming either the quarter, half or full mile… and tonight […]

Campfire just ended… The Section Heads lead the whole camp with torches to the woodland Junior Boys campsite, and tonight the highlight of campfire was Nurse Thom Benson (who’s been at camp 25 years!!) telling the story of Tom Thomson, the beloved Canadian artist who inspired the Group of Seven and who died mysteriously on […]

Everybody had a blast today – giant inflatables, SnoCones and waffles, Sponge Toss (at management), a truck driving around with Popsicles… A petting zoo with a miniature horse, baby goats, ducks and just-hatched ducklings…… A DJ from Magen Boys in Toronto and they taught the LITs a flash mob dance that they performed at dinner….

ContinueHot, sunny and fun at camp
Nature and FAD did a special day today: Red Gods Yoga in the Forest. They loaded the Voyageur canoe with lots of campers every period and paddled off our lake to a woodland hike up a cliff – the top of Gibraltar – to do yoga on the cliff top in the forest… begun of […]
ContinueA little silver sunshine
fell on us today, but our campers have gotten so savvy and outdoor-smart that they had their raincoats on, and just kept keepin’ on keeping’ on when it rained a little… Hard core!! Today at breakfast the Inter Senior Play, Hairspray broke with a cool skit, and auditions happened all day… Our two-week Junior Campers […]
ContinueWizard of Oz
The Junior Play was tonight – The Wizard of Oz, epitome of cuteness on stage… A song and dance extravaganza with Munchkins red-lining the cute-meter…. Great costumes and sets to back up our Junior thespians…. Today was also a windsurf race and special day at swimming with fun on the Jungle Joe and lots of […]
ContinueAh, summer!!
It’s finally HOT!!! Camp is SUCH a much more fun place when it’s hot… Inter Girls staff were thrown in the lake at lunchtime for doing the Inter Boys cheer…. So of course the Inter Boys then stole the Inter Girls cheer…. In response to this at dinner two staff dressed as police officers burst […]
