Josh is from Toronto and attends high school at CHAT. This summer will be his 1st year as a junior counsellor at Camp Arowhon after completing the Camp Arowhon LIT program last summer. Josh was a camper for 8 summers and is excited to return as staff for his 9th at camp! Outside of camp, Josh enjoys playing football, basketball, hockey, tennis, and golf. He also has a passion for music and has even composed some original songs. Josh enjoys spending time teaching skating and hockey lessons to children. He possesses great energy and character as well as superior awareness for those around him. We are very excited to have Josh joining our team of amazing staff this summer.
Harley is from Toronto and attends high school at The York School. This summer will be his 1st year as a junior counselor at Camp Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. Harley was also an Arowhon camper for eight years straight and will receive his ten-year jacket this summer! Outside of camp, Harley loves to play badminton, and camp has shown Harley the joys of indoor climbing to such a degree that it is now a hobby of his. Over the winter months, Harley keeps himself busy as a ski coach, teaching kids aged 6-7 and has done so for the past two years! Harley is both caring and thoughtful and leads a very balanced life. We are overjoyed that Harley will be joining our staff team this summer.

Emily is from Halifax and is going into her 2nd year at Mount Allison University. Although this is Emily’s 1st summer at Arowhon, she is not new to the camp scene. Emily has spent countless summers at Big Cove YMCA camp in Nova Scotia, and has previously completed their leadership program. Emily has previously worked with Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Society, and World Ovarian Cancer, to help raise awareness through planning events and social media campaigns. Emily is an avid hiker and loves to spend time outside. She can’t wait to spend an entire summer in Algonquin!
Tali is from Toronto and just completed eleventh grade at Northern Secondary School. This summer will be her 9th summer going to camp and 1st summer as a councillor after completing the LIT program in 2017! Tali loves animals, dancing, and is part of the the Buddies association at her school. She also is a committee member of Northern’s annual United Way Fashion Show. In her spare time, Tali loves to play with her dog, bake, and hang out with her friends. Tali is overjoyed to be part of Arowhon’s 2018 staff family, and we can’t wait to have her as a councillor this summer!
Tahlia is from South Australia and is looking forward to her 1st year as a Counsellor at Camp Arowhon, and also her 1st time in Canada! In Australia, Tahlia worked in recruitment and has a background in reception and administration. In 2017, she volunteered at a camp for kids with disabilities. In 2014, she lived and worked in London and was also lucky enough to travel around the United Kingdom and Europe. In her spare time, Tahlia enjoys playing netball, spending time with her friends, family & pets, and travelling – but most of all, she loves eating delicious food! She can’t wait to meet everyone at Camp Arowhon and have a great time!
Isabel is coming to us all the way from Montreal. Isabel will be completing the twelfth grade at the Collège Jean-de-Brebeuf. Last summer, she completed the LIT program, and this will be Isabel’s 6th summer at Arowhon. This year, Isabel was part of the student counsil, as well as other committees such as the Model UN committee, or the Carnival committee. Last Christmas, Isabel was part of a mentoring project for underprivileged children, she has also volounteered at a Food Bank of one of Montreal’s most disadvantaged districts. Isabel has been in a soccer team for two years, and has taken both martial arts, and self-defense classes. Having loved her experience as a camper, she is determined to give her campers the best summer of their lives. Isabel is a good listener, and will ensure that the cabin is a comfortable, understanding, no put-down zone. She’s here to help her campers create friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
After participating in the LIT program last summer, Jack is excited to return for another great year! This will be his 11th year at camp, and his 1st year on staff. Outside of his camp career, Jack attends Northern Secondary School in Toronto and loves to involve himself in a variety of different extracurriculars there. In 2016, Jack started the Mentors program at Northern, an organization which travels to local elementary and middle schools to educate students about mental health. He’s is also involved in his school’s student council, as well as its United Way charity campaign. After completing his education, Jack hopes to pursue a career in math and physics! Jack loves coming back to camp every year, and cannot wait to arrive again this summer!
Alice is from Australia, she lives on a property an hour away from a small country town in New South Wales about 7 hours from Sydney. Alice has recently completed her Bachelor degree in Teaching (Early Childhood and Primary) at the University of New England. Alice has experience in early childhood and primary schools. She is looking forward to the different adventures over summer while making new friends and experiencing summer camp. Alice loves spending time with children, playing sport, being outdoors, and getting creative. This will be her first Summer Camp and first time visiting Canada, and she can’t wait.

Andrew is from Toronto, but spends most of his year in Kingston, Ontario where he studies Mechanical Engineering at Queen’s University. This will be his 11th summer at camp, after being a camper for 9 years. He spent his last summer as a counsellor with the Senior Boys section and as a specialist at the Canoe dock. Outside of camp Andrew has worked with his school to plan next years frosh week for incoming Engineering students. During the winter, he spends his free time up north Snowboarding and teaching kids. Andrew is very excited to bring his outgoing, charismatic, and fun personality back to Arowhon for another fun filled summer.
Zach is from Toronto and attends high school at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. This is his 9th year at camp and is his 1st year as a junior counsellor. After completing the Leadership in Training program at Arowhon, Zach is excited to be returning to camp this summer as a member of staff. Zach is an active member of his school’s robotics team, Classics club, and music program. He is also on the Board of his Temple’s youth group where he serves as Membership Vice-President. Zach enjoys boxing, trampoline, bouldering and designing and playing video games. He is kind, enthusiastic, and empathetic towards others. Zach is looking forward to making 2018 a summer to remember for his campers.
Elijah is from Dundas, Ontario, and has just completed the 11th grade at Hamilton District Christian High School in Ancaster, Ontario. After spending last summer volunteering in Muskegon, Michigan and completing the Arowhon LIT program, Elijah is very excited to return to Arowhon for his 10th summer and 1st year as a staff member. Elijah enjoys playing soccer and going windsurfing. Elijah has worked as a page at Queens Park, helping members of parliament enact various bills and laws. Most of Elijah’s camper career was spent at the windsurf dock, practicing tricks and achieving his windsurfing 1st class award. We are very excited for Elijah to be joining us on staff this summer.
Avi is beyond excited to be back at camp — her home away from home — for her 9th summer at camp and her 1st year as a staff member, after completing the LIT program last summer. During the year Avi is in grade 11 at University of Toronto Schools in downtown Toronto. At school Avi loves to participate in school activities and, among other things, she choreographs for her school show, helps organize student outreach and runs her schools Best Buddies chapter (an organization that aims to build friendships between people with and without intellectual disabilities)! Avi really believes in the power of camp and cherishes the memories of her last 8 summers. She absolutely cannot wait to experience all the fun and amazing moments that are set to happen this summer!
Bailey is extremely excited approaching her 9th year at camp and 1st year as a counsellor. After completing the LIT program last summer, she cannot wait to return back to Arowhon, her home away from home. Bailey is from Toronto and is in grade 11 at Havergal College. At school, Bailey is involved in the Big Sister Little Sister program, and Haverpals both connecting older students and younger students within the school. Outside of school, she enjoys doing gymnastics, travelling, and spending time with friends. She is thrilled to create many fun memories with campers this upcoming summer, and we are excited to have her as part of our staff team!
Ignacio is from Mexico but has been living in Montreal since 2011. Last year, he graduated from high school at the top of his class in addition to him being part of the student body council, the swimming team, and the journalism club. Ignacio is currently studying in the Liberal Arts program at Dawson College (Montreal). He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French. Ignacio also has a decent amount of proficiency in German and Italian. He spent four unforgettable summers in Arowhon which greatly contributed in making him the person he is now. This is Ignacio’s 1st summer as a counsellor and he is incredibly excited to make it an amazing experience for everyone at Camp Arowhon!
Matthew has been enjoying his summers at Camp Arowhon since 2010. He goes to Harbord Collegiate Institute, and once completing grade 11 will spend his 1st year on staff at Arowhon after finishing the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp Matthew loves to play sports, mostly hockey and skiing. After spending years of ski racing, he now coaches a ski team of 6 to 8 year old boys and girls, and another team of 10 and 11 year olds. Matthew also loves to travel with his family, and has done some cool trips like living in the South of France for 2 months and going to Africa for a safari. Matthew is so excited to join the Camp Arowhon staff team this year!
This summer will be Mackenzie’s 1st year on staff and her 8th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program this past summer. She attends Havergal College in Toronto. Mackenzie has worked as a referee for young girls at North Toronto basketball league for the past three years. Outside of camp, she plays hockey and basketball and is a member of the community council which serves as a platform for community outreach at her school. Last school year, Mackenzie travelled to South Africa on exchange and she is excited to share her experiences with her campers this summer. Mackenzie is enthused to get back to camp and create memories with her campers!
Jamie is from Melbourne, Australia and has just completed a Secondary Teaching degree at Monash University. This summer will be his 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon, but his education background has given him a lot of experience working with children, showing his passion towards their development. An outgoing and adventurous person, Jamie is a big fan of all sports, notably soccer and cricket, which he has played for many years. Furthermore, he is very active in fundraising various projects back home, mostly through the creation and facilitation of trivia nights. After spending the past two winters working at a ski resort in BC, Jamie is now looking forward to experiencing a Canadian summer for the first time, where he hopes to grow just as much as the campers here at Arowhon.
Cece is a molecular biology student at the University of Pittsburgh. Next year will be her senior year at college. This will be her 1st year working at Camp Arowhon but that makes her that much more excited to join the team! In the past, she has worked with many fun organizations including The Girl Scouts of America and KeepItReal which is a nonprofit tutoring organization for children and refugees. This summer, Cece is looking forward to hiking, swimming, and making memories with everyone who attends camp. After college, Cece wishes to attend graduate school for Genetic Counseling, but not before traveling the world for a bit! So far, she has been to Costa Rica, Mexico, and various states in the United States, but never Canada! Cece is very happy to be working in Canada at Camp Arowhon this year and excited for the adventure to come.

Adam is from Toronto and attends high school at John Polanyi Collegiate Institute. This summer will be Adam’s 9th spent at camp, and his 1st on staff as a junior counsellor after completing Arowhon’s LIT program. Outside of camp, he is a committed student and leads his school’s environmental team. Adam also babysits often, and helps out neighbours in his community. During breaks, Adam loves to travel and experience new cities and cultures. After high school, he plans to pursue a career in the architecture field, and hopes to focus on projects which will benefit struggling communities. Adam is very caring, and committed to helping his campers grow and learn. We’re thrilled that Adam will be joining our staff team for the 2018 season.
Gil is from Toronto, and is currently attending North Toronto Collegiate Institute. This will be Gils 8th summer at Camp Arowhon but his 1st summer on staff. Last year Gil completed the LIT program where he showed off his kind nature and his ability to work with children of all ages. Outside of camp Gil also tends to keep himself busy with a wealth of extracurricular activities. Some of those activities include playing on the school basketball and curling team as well as participating in the North Toronto marching and symphonic band. Outside of school Gil refs house league basketball and coaches football. Gil is a fun and hard working person who is always ready to give out a helping hand. We are so excited to have him join our staff community!
Taylor is beyond excited to be returning to Camp Arowhon for her 9th summer and 2nd summer on staff. Taylor lives in Toronto and attends Tanenbaum CHAT high school. At school, she is a member of the jazz and symphonic bands, business council, and is co-head of the Smiles for SickKids committee. Outside of school, Taylor loves to play the piano, guitar, and alto-saxophone. She also regularly volunteers at her synagogue running youth programming. Taylor is so excited to be returning to camp for another amazing summer filled with unforgettable memories.
Sarah Ilany is from Armonk, NY and is in 10th grade at Byram Hills High School. This will be her 8th summer at Arowhon, and she was an LIT last year. Sarah absolutely loves camp and meeting all kinds of people that she wouldn’t be able to without it. This year, Sarah is excited to experience what camp is like as a counsellor, something she’s thought about since she was a junior! Sarah is a part of her school’s varsity field hockey team and runs on the varsity winter and spring track teams. Also, Sarah likes to scuba dive when she gets the chance. She has received the J R Tesone Youth Public Health Service Award for her work on spreading awareness and fundraising for type one diabetes.
Noah is from Toronto and can’t wait to go back to Arowhon. This will be Noah’s 1st year on staff after spending 6 years as a camper and one in the LIT program. During the year, Noah attends Forest Hill CI and enjoys playing hockey and tennis, as well as volunteering at Out of the Cold which is a program that provides homeless people with shelter, food, and warm clothes during the winter months. He also participates in many clubs at school, such as DECA, where he is the vice-president, Sports Management Club, and founded his school’s Model UN chapter. Noah is looking forward to another unforgettable summer at camp!
Carly is from Toronto, Ontario and attends Northern Secondary School. She was a camper at Arowhon for 8 years including as an LIT. Carly is looking forwards to being a junior councillor this summer. Her favourite camp meal is chicken burgers.
Monique is 22 years old and she is from the Netherlands. She is still living and studying there. In the Netherlands she is studying at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. She is in her final year of the bachelor study International communication and media and when she returns back in The Netherlands from Camp Arowhon, she will only have to write the thesis and she will graduate. Monique has never been at Camp Arowhon before, but she has never been so excited to go somewhere as she is now to go to Camp Arowhon! When Monique is not working for school, she is either working at events as a photographer, practising Hot Yoga or travelling. She tries to visit a new/different country or city every month. She loves to be outdoors and enjoys camping very much. Monique has worked with kids aged 13 to 17 during her internship last year where she worked for a non-profit organization who organizes art competitions around the Netherlands. During her internship she experienced what is was like to be a stage manager and explored the balance between being an authority and a friend. She can’t wait to meet all the campers, and she is going to do everything she can to make it an unforgettable summer for everyone!
Kobi is from Toronto and has just completed grade 11 at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. Kobi is very excited to return to camp this summer after completing the LIT program last year. It is Kobi’s 1st year on staff but he was a camper for 7 years. As a camper Kobi spent most of his time in the water at the surf and swim dock. Outside of camp Kobi plays basketball and is part of his school’s athletic association. He also has coached football and refereed basketball for numerous years. Kobi loves camp and is just as excited as we are to have him on staff this summer!
Callum is From London and this will be 1st summer at Arowhon and his 1st visit to Canada. He graduated last year in Law from Swansea University and spend last summer working as an inter boys counsellor at Lake Greeley Camp in Pennsylvania along with two summers working at day camps in the UK. He competed in Jiu Jitsu and Lacrosse for his University and served as a corporal in the Air Training Corps where he learnt to fly aircraft at 17. He hopes to teach English as a foreign language in Asia in the near future and is excited to spend a summer away from the big city, working another summer with children, and escaping the terrible weather of England.

Hannah is from Toronto and is in grade 11 at Branksome Hall. This upcoming summer, Hannah will be a junior counsellor for her 1st year at Camp Arowhon after being a part of the LIT program last summer, and a camper for 8 years prior. Outside of camp Hannah works at Premier Skating Schools, and enjoys her passion for visual arts and hockey. Hannah is the editor of her school’s newspaper ‘The Kilt Press’, and was the captain of her hockey team this past year. Hannah is both outgoing and caring, and is very hard working, as well. Hannah is extremely excited to be a part of the staff team this summer.
Abby is from the Cleveland, Ohio area (and was born in Toronto) and she will be going into her senior year of high school this coming fall. Abby was a camper for 6 summers at Arowhon and spent nearly all of her time at the kayak dock or the ropes course. She was an LIT last summer, and this is her 1st year on staff. Outside of camp, Abby works as a gymnastics coach for preschoolers and elementary school students. She also dances ballet and modern, pole vaults for her school’s track and field team, and interns (peer tutors) at her school’s math and writing centers. Abby is beyond excited to be coming back to Arowhon as staff this year, and she can’t wait to meet all of the new campers.
Kashka is celebrating his 1st year at camp Arowhon. During the year he attends Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Quebec, where he studies economics and political studies. Kashka is an assistant basketball coach year round, and has worked at several high level sports camps in previous years. Kashka is also a volunteer member of Best Buddies Canada and enjoys playing sports and exploring the outdoors in his free time.

Remie is from the Netherlands and she will be spending her 1st summer in Canada at Camp Arowhon. She wend to the Hogeschool van Utrecht, where she finished her studie Pedagogy. During her studie she learned a lot about the development of children and worked with children with special needs. She also spend a year in Australia before coming to Canada to work as a volunteer at a wildlife rehabilitation centre in British Columbia and as an Au Pair in the Northwest Territories. She is looking forward to spending her summer at Camp Arowhon because she loves to spend time outdoors, to play games and have a fun time with children. In the future she hopes to see even more places in this beautiful world and experience all different cultures.
Alise is from a far away country called Latvia. However, to make her dreams come true she has moved to England and is now a student in University of Chichester. She is studying acting and film production with hopes to one day be a filmmaker in Canada. Last summer she went to a camp in America to work as a counsellor as well, she loved it so much that she wants to do it again, but this time in Canada! Alise spends her free time at a ranch with horses who she adores. Besides horse riding Alise loves to rock climb and hike. She has also traveled to almost every country in Europe and hopes to one day be able to say that she has traveled all over the world.
Adrienne is in Grade 11 and currently attends CHAT. This summer will be her 1st year on staff and 9th summer at Arowhon. Adrienne loves to play sports especially field hockey, ice hockey, and softball. She is also on her school’s Model UN team and is part of the PALS program where she helps younger students develop important learning strategies. Adrienne had the opportunity to travel this year as she went on a service trip to Ecuador this past fall and to Israel and Poland on The March of the Living in April. Adrienne loves to be outdoors and is looking forward to camp this summer. We are so excited to have Adrienne joining our staff team this year.
Laura is from Aurora and this will be her 1st summer at Camp Arowhon and as a counsellor. She decided to take this job because she loves working with children, being in nature and a part of an adventure! She is currently studying Chemical Engineering at McMaster University and teaches her passion for piano to children. Laura has experience volunteering at a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Camp for disabled children and recently was a soccer referee volunteer at MotionBallU. With Laura’s energetic, positive and caring personality she will make a perfect friend and counsellor to all the campers this summer. She is extremely excited to meet everyone!
Shannon lives in Mississauga, and will be attending the University of Toronto (Trinity College) in the fall. This summer will be her 1st year at Camp Arowhon. She is, however, very well acquainted with Algonquin Park. She was previously a camper and then counsellor at an all girls camp in the park. Outside of camp, she coaches ski racing and volunteers at an after school childcare program. In grade twelve, Shannon attended an Ontario curriculum school based in Switzerland, where she lived with a french speaking family and had the opportunity to travel in Europe. She was also a delegate at a Model United Nations forum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Shannon has been very active in sports all her life and particularly enjoys running, long distance swimming, and kayaking. She is caring, motivated and enthusiastic. Shannon is thrilled to be joining the Arowhon staff team this summer.

During the year she volunteers at Mount Sinai hospital and for organizations that raise money for homeless youth. At school, Emily participates in many clubs including PALs, a group of students who mentor the younger grades. Emily is caring, attentive and is so excited to share her love of Arowhon with her campers this summer!
Penny is 17 years old and attends Branksome Hall in Toronto, Ontario. Last year she completed the LIT program and is thrilled to come to camp for her 9th summer, and 1st summer as a counsellor. Penny teaches math and violin to younger students at her school, acting as a mentor and role-model for them. Penny has completed her bronze award in the Duke of Edinburough program, and has played violin in the Ontario Kiwanis music festival for the past 4 years, winning gold every year. Penny plans to pursue medicine after she completes high school, and has demonstrated her avid passion for science through being a member of neuroscience club, and working in a lab at the University of Toronto. Penny is an energetic person, and plans on bringing this enthusiasm to every aspect of camp this summer!

Phoenix Sandrock is from Ottawa and is in their 1st year of university, studying biology. Phoenix has worked for four summers at Camp Woolsey and is thrilled to be joining Arowhon’s team for the 1st time this summer! They love the tight-knit family that forms at camp and are excited to be meeting a whole new group of staff and campers. They are also looking forward passing on their love of nature and canoe tripping. When not in school, Phoenix is the treasurer (and an active member) of their rover crew. They have volunteered extensively with the Anglican Church in Ottawa, with a focus in planning and carrying out youth events. They also love to swim, write, and turn over logs to see what’s underneath. Phoenix is excited for all the new friends, new skills, campfires, and starry skies that this summer will bring!
Saffi is from Toronto and has been keeping herself busy by finishing up her grade 12 year at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. She can’t wait to be returning to camp for her 11th summer and 2nd year on staff! In the city, Saffi is an avid swimmer on her school team along with a member of the competitive science club called HOSA. Saffi can often be found volunteering at an organization called Ve’ahavta, which helps provide essential necessities to people experiencing homelessness. Camp is something Saffi looks forward to all year round and is thrilled to be spending this summer back up at Algonquin!
Hannah is super excited to be returning for her 8th summer at camp and her 2nd year on staff! Hannah is from Toronto and attends TanenbaumCHAT. Outside of camp, Hannah regularly volunteers at her synagogue, as well as Out of the Cold, a program that helps the homeless. Hannah teaches swimming to children of all ages. She also loves dancing and skiing during her free time. At school Hannah is part of the set design crew for the annual school play and has participated in the Annual Dance Fashion show. She is so excited to be coming back to camp for another amazing summer!
Abigail is from Toronto, and is currently attending Bishop Strachan School. Abigail has been a camper at Arowhon for five years, and last summer she completed the LIT program. This year she is thrilled to be joining the Arowhon staff team for the 1st time. At school, Abigail is a stage manager for her school musical, and was a member of the Global Awareness council. This summer, Abigail is looking forward to spreading her positivity and love of camp, as well as making strong bonds with campers.
Alexa is from Toronto and attends high school at Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is her 8th year at camp, and is her 1st year as a junior counsellor. After completing the Leadership in Training program at Arowhon, Alexa is extremely excited to come back as staff. Outside of camp Alexa volunteers at out of the cold, babysits, sings, dances, and is in many school clubs. She is charismatic, hard working, and empathetic towards others. Alexa has an amazing ability to make strong connections with campers and we’re thrilled to have her joining us on staff this summer.
Sloane is from Toronto and will attend school at Queens University next year. This will be her 10th summer at Camp Arowhon, and her 2nd year as a counsellor and sailing specialist. She was a camper for 7 years and completed the LIT program. During the school year, Sloane plays soccer, volunteers at the “Out of the Cold” program and is a swimming instructor. She is extremely excited to come back to camp for another summer. She is caring and strongly motivated to make the summer unforgettable for her campers.
Jen lives in Toronto and is so excited to be back for her 9th summer on Tepee Lake! When she is not at camp Jen attends Northern Secondary School and likes to spend her free teaching art at Wandas Creative Clay. At school, Jen is the head of the Buddies Association and participates in the school fashion show as a dancer and the Head of Public Relations. Jen just finished Grade 12 and looks forward to pursuing her education at Queen’s University in hopes of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Bess is from Toronto and just graduated from high school at Branksome Hall, where she finished the rigorous IB diploma program. After completing the LIT program and her 1st time on staff last summer, she will be returning this year as a senior counsellor at Arowhon. This year, Bess will be celebrating her 11th summer at camp. During the school year, Bess is a member of the Branksome Hall Rowing Team, where she participates as a coxswain. She is also head of the knitting club at her school and volunteers at the “Out of the Cold” program for homeless people in her neighbourhood. Bess is incredibly hardworking, outgoing, caring, and spirited. She is very excited to be a member of the Arowhon staff team again this summer.
Sydney lives in Toronto and has just completed her Grade 12 year of High School. This year Syd is celebrating her 10th summer at camp and 2nd year on staff. Two summers ago Sydney completed the LIT program and is very excited to be returning again as staff for her second year. When not at camp during the year, Sydney is a member of her school’s Student Council as the Director of Student Life and is a member of the volleyball team and captain of the ultimate frisbee team. Syd will be attending Queen’s University in the fall and wants to major in psychology. Syd cannot wait for another amazing summer at her home away from home!
Renee lives and studies in Pickering, Ontario. Going into her grade 12 year, Renee is excited to be nearing the end of her high school experience. After completing the LIT program last summer this will be Renee’s 10th returning year and 1st summer on staff. During the year she is a competitive swimmer and active member of her high school councils. Renee has been swimming for 5 years on the Pickering Swim Club as well as joining her high school team. Renee is an active volunteer within her community and greatly enjoyed working with children through her LIT year. Renee is very excited to start her first year on staff at Arowhon!!
Sarah is from Toronto and is so excited to be returning for her 8th summer at Arowhon and 2nd summer on staff. Throughout the year, Sarah is a math tutor, volunteers with Out of the Cold, and is a member of Jack’s Chapter, a program where she works to plan events to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. She will be attending Queens University starting in the fall, and could not be any more excited to be spending another amazing summer at her home away from home!
Hope is from Toronto and is currently attending Humberside Collegiate Institute. Hope is thrilled to be returning to Arowhon for her 8th summer and 2nd year on staff as a counsellor. Outside of camp, Hope is a member of her school’s Model UN team, Art Council, and Photography Club. She is also a member of her school’s Classics Club and annually competes in the Ontario Students Classics Conference. She has spent many wonderful hours volunteering in her school’s art department, doing everything from grade 8 orientation tours, to setting up displays. Hope is kind, hardworking, and we couldn’t be happier to have her as a part of our 2018 staff team.
Abbey is from Toronto and will be returning to camp for her 6th summer at Arowhon and 2nd year as a counsellor. She will be attending Queens for their business program next fall. Throughout the year, Abbey volunteers with Chabbad’s Jteens, teaches snowboarding, and is a member of NCSY Toronto’s presidential board. Abbey is excited to go back to camp to have the best summer!
Ezra is from Toronto and is currently finishing up his Grade 12 year at Greenwood College School. He plans to attend the University of Guelph next fall. At Greenwood, Ezra was a member of the Outdoor Education Committee and the Track and Field team. This summer will be he his 2nd year on staff, and his 10th summer at Arowhon. In the city, Ezra has volunteered to help run the guitar club at Nelson Mandela Public School and teach math to the students there. Ezra returning to the staff team this year, and can’t wait for the summer to begin!
Jake is from Buffalo New York and attends East Aurora High School. He completed the Camp Arowhon LIT program last summer, and is excited for his 1st year as a Counsellor. At home he is currently working for a newspaper and sometimes he baby-sits on the side. He volunteers at the local children’s museum. When he was a camper at Arowhon, he loved to kayak in play boats. Jake is a member of his schools swim team, and he runs in cross country and track. Jake is a caring and strong-minded individual who always does what is best for his campers. We can’t wait to have

Benjamin is from Toronto and is entering his 1st year at Carleton university. This will be Benjamin’s 10th year at Arowhon and his 2nd year on staff. Last year, he was a counsellor in the Junior Boys section and is excited to be returning to camp. When not in school, Benjamin enjoys spending his time playing soccer, reading, and working to politically engage youths. Benjamin also works with his local community creating and leading educational programs for children and their parents. He has an amazing ability to relate to children through creativity, athleticism and a positive attitude. We are thrilled to welcome Benjamin back as part of our staff team this summer.
Malcom is from Toronto, and attends Toronto Prep School. He is currently in grade 12, and this will be his 10th summer at Arowhon. This summer will be his 2nd year as a counsellor at Arowhon. Malcolm looks forward to being at camp more than anything else. He feels that camp has taught him great life skills and is hoping to pass on some of the skills he has learned to campers. When Malcolm isn’t at camp, he enjoys playing basketball, baseball and competitive hockey. He is currently in a hockey league playing for Leaside. Malcolm is also a swim instructor and has taught ages 5 through 14. His major in university will be sociology.
Cooper is from Toronto, Ontario. He just graduated from UCC in May, and is excited to begin his university career at Carleton University, studying public affairs and policy management this September. This will be Cooper’s 11th summer at Arowhon, and he is excited for another great year at camp. While in high school, Cooper participated in his school’s debating and model United Nations clubs, as well as volunteering with the Horizon’s program, where UCC students help to tutor and mentor students from less privileged backgrounds. Cooper also loves history and enjoys reading. Cooper is thrilled to return to camp as a counselor again, and is very excited for another great summer at camp!
Sam is from Toronto and attends Lawrence Park CI. This summer will be his 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon, after previously spending his past 7 summers at camp and completing the LIT program this past summer. Outside of camp Sam plays basketball, tennis, soccer, and rugby. In school, Sam belongs to the Model United Nations club and DECA club, as well as being part of the Buddy program, which involves helping the new grade 9’s with their transition from middle school to high school. Sam loves camp and is extremely excited for his 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon.
Oliver is excited to be returning to Arowhon for his 11th summer and can’t wait to share his love of camp with others during another great summer as a counsellor. In Toronto, Oliver attends Lawrence Park where he plays rugby, volleyball, skis, and is the president of his school’s athletic council. Oliver is passionate about music and plays both drums and guitar. Having completed his LIT summer two years ago and his first year on staff last year, Oliver can’t wait to be back on Lake Teepee for another amazing summer.
Ben is a counsellor born in Toronto, and just graduated from Northern Secondary School. This year at camp will be his 2nd year on staff as a counsellor, after completing the CIT program, and 10th year at camp. Next year, Ben is headed off to the University of Guelph on an entry scholarship, for Theatre Studies. Ben is so excited to go back to camp this summer, and meet all the new incredible campers, as well as reconnecting with returning ones.
Sam is from Toronto and has completed grade 11 at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. This summer will be his 1st year as a junior counsellor at Camp Arowhon, after completing the LIT program last summer. Prior to this, Sam was an Arowhon camper for a number of years. As a camper, he enjoyed his time time at Sail with his friends and counsellors. Outside of camp, Sam plays rugby with his club the Toronto Scottish and actively participates in drama programs in and outside of school. He has also won numerous awards sailing with the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Furthermore, Sam is an active member of his synagogue and participates in various activities with his community, such as the Out of The Cold program. Sam is excited for this summer at Camp and plans to give his campers the best experience possible!
Mack is a Toronto native graduating this year from Northern Secondary School. This is Mack’s 9th year at camp and his 2nd as staff. As a camper, Mack loved going to landsports, climbing, drama and canoe tripping. During the year, Mack works as an instructor at Caledon Ski Club with young skiers aged 4-14. At school, he is the President of the student council, danced in the school’s United Way fashion show and plays rugby. Last year, Mack got to hang out with the junior boys everyday and loved it! Mack is very caring, funny and energetic, and looks to create close bonds with all of his campers out on Lake Tepee.
Will hails from Toronto and has just completed his 1st year at Queen’s University where he will major in Global Development. This will be his 11th summer at camp and his 3rd on staff after two fantastic years as a counsellor in the Inter Boys section and on the Surf Dock. As a camper Will spent most of his time windsurfing or at landsports. Outside of camp, Will loves to play hockey, basketball, and baseball. Will was also a minor hockey referee for 5 years and has coached hockey and flag football teams. In high school Will was a student leader who leads school trips and tours for prospective students. He was also involved in his school’s Model United Nations club. Currently at University he is involved in a reading buddy program with local kids! We are thoroughly looking forward to another fantastic summer with Will on the team and he is absolutely thrilled to be heading back to Algonquin Park for another great year!
Hannah is thrilled to be returning for her 3rd year on staff, and 11th summer at camp! Hannah is entering her 2nd year at McMaster University in the Arts and Science program. During the school year, Hannah has enjoyed volunteering with Frontier College, where she leads literacy programs for elementary school students. She also spent the previous four years working at her synagogue, planning and running weekly programs for children. At university, Hannah is a devoted member of her intramural inner-tube water polo team and hockey team, and loved being involved in the ArtSci musical. Hannah is a caring, responsible, and thoughtful person who loves spending time with children. She is so excited for another great summer at camp!
Tyler is from Detroit, Michigan and this will be his 8th summer at camp. In school, he was the captain of the junior varsity tennis team and now plays varsity tennis as well as golf. He enjoys ski instructing, playing golf, as well as watching hockey. He works weekly at his local club teaching kids how to play tennis and on the weekends he teaches skiing to kids. Tyler has been a camper since the age of 9, when Daniel Levin and himself became 2 of the 1st campers from Detroit in several years. Fun fact: previously camp used to have a bus from Detroit! Tyler helps out with the peer corps movement and is a member of the National Honors Society. One interesting fact about Tyler is that he is working towards getting his pilot’s license.
Theo is returning for his 11th year at Camp Arowhon. He lives in Ithaca, NY and attends Northeastern University where he is studying marketing. Theo did his first semester of school in Berlin. This will be his 3rd year on staff and is happy to be returning as a counselor yet again. Theo is looking forward to another summer at Arowhon on Tepee Lake.
Noa will be returning for his 11th summer at camp, and 3rd year on staff. Noa is from Toronto, yet in his heart, camp is truly his home. While at camp, he spends his time at the Windsurfing Dock and at the Ball Hockey Court, while always having a blast! Noa is also an avid stargazer, some even say professional, and loves to enjoy all that camp has to offer. Outside of school, Noa just completed his first year at Queen’s University where he studies Economics. While not in the classroom, he is an executive for an Economics Case Confrence, as well as pursuing his passion for graphic design. Noa cannot be more excited to return to the shores of Teepee Lake this summer, and is ready to share his love and passion for camp with campers and staff alike.
Louise is from Toronto and is excited to be returning on staff for her 9th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. At school, Louise plays rugby, swims, and participates in her school’s model United Nations club. She is also a member of her school’s Buddies group, a program that helps integrate grade nines into high school life. Through Buddies, Louise has lead sessions on stress and homework management and been a counsellor on the school camping trip. Outside of school, Louise volunteers with Out of the Cold and Right to Play. She is so excited to meet her new campers and help make their summer’s the best yet!
Leah is from Buffalo, New York and currently attends the University of Wisconsin-Madison. At University, Leah writes for one of the newspapers on campus, and serves on the Wisconsin Alumni Student Board, a group of students who plan events for students and alumni on campus and beyond. This will be Leah’s 11th summer at camp and 2nd year on staff, and she cannot wait to help make her camper’s summers as amazing as her’s were!
Katharine (KK) McCallum
Katharine is from London, UK and this will be her 9th summer at Arowhon where she was a camper for 7 years before completing our LIT program. Her camp resume includes achieving her 1st class award in horseback riding as well as being a Colour War captain and going to Brent and back. Outside of camp, she loves sports, music and travelling as well as debating. Katharine is on her school’s field hockey, netball and racquets teams and is also a member of the Jazz band and student council. Also, during the school week she volunteers at an elementary school twice a week to teach Latin. She can’t wait to come back to camp for another amazing summer!
Jack lives in Toronto and will be returning for his 9th summer at camp. This will be his 1st year on staff after finishing up the LIT program last year. Jack is a member of his school’s hockey, golf, and flag football teams. Outside of school, Jack plays competitive hockey and is also an avid fan of both basketball and football. You may remember Jack from when he helped run our Arowhon in action skating event last year. Jack is incredibly caring, spirited, and easy going. We are thrilled to have him join our staff this summer.
This summer will be Ira’s 1st year on staff after an incredible 8 years as a camper and then going on to comple the LIT program. During the year he works at Forest Hill arena as a hockey referee. As a hockey player himself, he has won many titles. As well as hockey, basketball and rugby are some of his favorite school sports to play. He loves participating in charity walks like the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma event in hopes of raising money and spreading awareness of the disease. We are lucky to have Ira on our staff this summer!
Daniel is from West Bloomfield, Michigan (suburb of Detroit) and currently attends the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. This will be Daniel’s 10th year at Arowhon and his 3rd as a counsellor. He is incredibly excited to once again return to Algonquin Park and be with his best friends for another great summer. At school, he is studying neuroscience, with the goal of attending medical school in the future. Outside of the classroom, he plays a lot of basketball, is the head of philanthropy for his fraternity, and is an elected representative on the university’s student government assembly.
Benn is from Toronto and can’t wait to receive his 10 year jacket marking his decade-long commitment to Arowhon this summer! During the year, Benn works at a restaurant and volunteers with the Hockey Heroes program teaching disadvantaged youth how to play hockey and at an after school program with the Miles Nadal JCC. During his time at camp he had many fun experiences, with highlights being archery, landsports and completing both Brent and Whitney trips. He was so positively influenced by his counsellors growing up and wishes to do the same for future campers. He loves sports and is on the athletic committee at his school. He plays hockey, rugby, basketball, and skis whenever he gets a chance. He also participates in the peer mentoring program at his school. He can’t wait for another active summer in Algonquin Park!
Ariel is a student from Toronto and is looking forward to her 2nd summer as a counsellor. She loved each of her 9 years as an Arowhon camper and LIT thought it couldn’t get any better than that until she got to be a counsellor for the Inter Girls last summer! During the school year, Ariel plays on her school’s volleyball team, runs track and field, and was a mentor for grade 9 students. She also teaches skiing, volunteers at her local Out of the Cold shelter, and plays tennis. Ariel is passionate about camp, and can’t wait for another great summer with her campers!
Helena is from Toronto and will be celebrating her 9th summer with us at Arowhon. After 7 great years as a camper and LIT, and a very wonderful summer last year as a 1st year counsellor working with the Junior Girls, and an assistant on FAD (fitness, aerobics, and dance), Helena is thrilled to be coming back. Helena studies Health Science at Queen’s University. Outside of school, Helena spends her time volunteering at Drama Ways, a program for adults and kids with developmental disorders. Helena is an extremely enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated counsellor. She is delighted to be returning to Tepee Lake for another amazing summer!
This is Nikki’s 9th year at camp and 2nd year as a counsellor. She loved last summer and had such a great time working with the Junior Girls section! During the year Nikki volunteers at a horse and dog rescue farm, and at school plays on the tennis and volleyball teams! Nikki is super excited to be back at camp and to have the best summer yet!
