Thomas was born and raised in The Netherlands, where he studies at the Utrecht University of Applied Sciences. He’s just finished his 2nd year of his Bachelors of Education. He’s the co-founder and core member of a foundation for the troubled and depressed youth of our country, who visits high schools, tell stories and encourages youth to share their stories. We’ve reached 1000s of children this way and are very motivated to keep on going. Thomas is really looking forward to meeting everyone at Arowhon, and supporting campers wherever and however he can. He’s been kickboxing for 7 years and has played soccer for 11. Thomas likes to travel as much as possible, and has visited many countries in Europe. He is very excited to be coming to Canada and to Arowhon for the 1st time!
Nick is looking forward to his 1st year as a counsellor and returning for his 3rd year of camp at Arowhon since being an LIT. Nick is originally from Vancouver but spent many years growing up in Toronto as well! He is currently finishing his 3rd year at the University of Guelph studying finance and hopes to work as a financial analyst after graduation. Nick is excited to return to Arowhon because he has been missing the canoe trips and the family atmosphere at camp. He has spent his time outside of school working at Habitat for Humanity and Enviro Tree Care. Nick has volunteered with Track 3 helping children with mental and physical disabilities to snowboard, and with Relay for Life, Guelph Food Bank and the Guelph Women in Crisis Centre. Nick is most excited about returning to camp to make the campers summer as fun and unforgettable as his were.
Emily is a high school student from Toronto and is excited to be returning for her 7th summer at Arowhon. Emily completed our LIT program during summer 2015 and took last summer off to work with younger children at day camp. Emily is extremely excited to be a counsellor this year! At school in Toronto, Emily is a peer coach, and helps grade nine students adjust to high school life. She is also a participant in her school’s DECA team. Outside of school, Emily plays basketball and teaches swimming at Frank’s Swim School to children of all ages. Emily is a caring, thoughtful, and responsible person who enjoys spending time with children of all ages. Emily is so excited to spend another summer at camp and can’t wait to make new bonds with campers and make sure that this summer is unforgettable!
Saffi is beyond excited to be returning to camp her 10th summer and 1st year on staff! Saffi lives in Toronto and attends North Toronto Collegiate Institute. When Saffi isn’t at camp, she loves to swim, ski and be with her friends and family. At school, Saffi participates in a competitive science club called HOSA and is an avid member of her swim team. She also volunteers with multiple different organizations, most commonly being V’ahavta, a Jewish organization that focuses on helping the homeless and providing health support, essential supplies and referrals to shelters. After spending the past 9 summers at camp as a camper and completing the LIT program last year, Saffi is thrilled to be apart of the Arowhon staff team and ready to spend another amazing summer back at her Algonquin home!
Lucy is from from Scotland where she is studying Law at the University of Dundee. This will be her 1st year at camp and she is super excited as she has never been to Canada before but has heared amazing things from her sister Zoe, who was a tripper in 2016. Zoe is a member of the University Squash club, and plays for the ladies team. She is an active member of the University Mooting Club, and got to the quarterfinals of the University competition. She loves sports and played hockey for her school for many years, in addition to coaching children’s hockey. Lucy is a very bubbly, energetic, enthusiastic person and she is always up for a chat, especially if there is a cup of tea involved!
Emily moved to Canada from Queensland, Australia, and has spent a year exploring the Rocky Mountains. Emily loves to travel (27 countries and counting!) and enjoys spending her time outdoors hiking, snowboarding, and exploring. Emily has volunteered in South Africa, undergoing conservation work on a game reserve, and also running a Sports Development program for orphans and children in vulnerable care. Emily holds a Diploma in Graphic Design and loves getting creative. She can’t wait to have a good time and a good laugh at Camp Arowhon for her 1st ever Summer Camp!
Taylor is from Tamworth, the Country Music Capital of Australia, and home to the Big Golden Guitar. This will be Taylor’s 1st summer with Camp Arowhon, and her 1st experience working at a camp. Taylor was working for Tamworth Family Support Services as a Skills Development Worker before she left Australia, and this is where her passion for working with children has started. Taylor is a very fun and social person who cannot wait to make some new friendships and memories.
Kellie is from Tamworth, Australia, and is super excited about spending her 1st summer at Arowhon! She has recently completed my Bachelor of Environmental Studies, and decided has decided that it was time for a fun and fresh adventure! She is a registered Foster Carer in Australia, and she loves spending time with kids, building their confidence and creativity! Kellie has a fun and outgoing personality, and cannot wait for the adventures and friendship that await her this summer!
Hannah is from Toronto and is excited to be returning for her 7th summer at camp, after completing the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp, Hannah regularly volunteers at her synagogue, as well as Out of the Cold, a program that helps the homeless. She also loves dancing and skiing during her free time. At school Hannah is part of the set design crew for the annual school play and has participated in the Annual Dance Fashion show. She is so excited to be coming back to camp for another amazing summer!
Abigail is from Toronto, and is currently attending Bishop Strachan School. Abigail has been a camper at Arowhon for five years, and last summer she completed the LIT program. This year she is thrilled to be joining the Arowhon staff team for the 1st time. At school, Abigail is a stage manager for her school musical, and was a member of the Global Awareness council. This summer, Abigail is looking forward to spreading her positivity and love of camp, as well as making strong bonds with campers.
Alexa is from Toronto and attends high school at Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is her 8th year at camp, and is her 1st year as a junior counsellor. After completing the Leadership in Training program at Arowhon, Alexa is extremely excited to come back as staff. Outside of camp Alexa volunteers at out of the cold, babysits, sings, dances, and is in many school clubs. She is charismatic, hard working, and empathetic towards others. Alexa has an amazing ability to make strong connections with campers and we’re thrilled to have her joining us on staff this summer.
Sloane is from Toronto and attends high school at Tanenbaum CHAT. After spending 7 summers as a Camp Arowhon camper and completing the LIT program, this summer will be her 1st summer as a counsellor. At school, she is the head of the Smiles for SickKids club, raising money and collecting gifts for the children at Sick Kids hospital, and she volunteers to help the homeless at “Out of the Cold”. She is excited to return to camp for another summer. She is caring and strongly motivated to make the summer great for the campers.
Jen lives in Toronto and is so excited to return to camp for her 8th summer! In the city, she likes to keep herself busy with her school’s Buddy Program, which helps integrate grade 9 students into high school. Jen was also a dancer and the Junior Producer of her school’s Fashion Show. She is on her school’s United Way Executive Board, Social Justice Executive Board and works at Wanda’s Creative Clay. Camp is something Jen has always looked forward to and after completing the LIT program last year, Jen can’t wait to meet her new campers and to be on staff this summer. She knows it will be a summer to remember!
Bess is from Toronto and attends high school at Branksome Hall, where she is working to complete the rigorous IB diploma program. This summer, Bess will be celebrating her 10th summer at Arowhon, and her 1st as a staff member. During the school year, Bess is a member of the Branksome Hall Rowing Team, where she participates as a coxswain. She is also head of the knitting club at her school and volunteers at the “Out of the Cold” program for homeless people in her neighbourhood. Bess is incredibly hardworking, outgoing, caring, and spirited. She is very excited to be joining the Arowhon staff team this summer!
Sydney lives in Toronto and will be going into her Grade 12 year. This is her 9th summer at camp and 1st year on staff. Last summer Sydney completed the LIT program and is very excited to be returning as staff. When not at camp during the year, Sydney is a member of her school’s Student Council as the Director of the Social Committee and is a member of the volleyball team. Outside of school she dances, and volunteers at several different organizations. Syd cannot wait to come back to her home away from home for another amazing summer!
Renee lives and studies in Pickering, Ontario. Going into her grade 12 year, Renee is excited to be nearing the end of her high school experience. After completing the LIT program last summer this will be Renee’s 10th returning year and 1st summer on staff. During the year she is a competitive swimmer and active member of her high school councils. Renee has been swimming for 5 years on the Pickering Swim Club as well as joining her high school team. Renee is an active volunteer within her community and greatly enjoyed working with children through her LIT year. Renee is very excited to start her first year on staff at Arowhon!!
Rachel is beyond excited to be returning to camp (her favourite place in the world) for her 10th summer! After 8 incredible summers as a camper and having completed the LIT program, Rachel can’t wait for her 1st year as staff. Rachel lives in Toronto and attends high school at Tanenbaum CHAT. At camp, Rachel spent most of her time on push trips and hanging out by the canoe dock. When Rachel isn’t at camp, she loves to play field hockey, dance, take pictures, play her ukulele and spend time with her friends. This year, Rachel is actively involved in school as she is the junior producer and future producer of her school’s dance production and co-founder of a female empowerment club. In her community, Rachel volunteers on a teen philanthropy board and is a youth leader at her synagogue. Rachel loves to laugh, have fun and is so excited to be apart of the Arowhon staff team and to meet all of you this summer!
Sarah is from Toronto and attends the Bishop Strachan School, and is so excited to be returning for her 7th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. During the year, she is a member of her schools volleyball team, mental health council, and participates in a program called horizons, where she tutors kids from a low-income neighbourhood. Sarah is also a member of a club called Jack’s Chapter at school, where she works to plan events within her school to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health, and allow for mental health to become a more open topic within the school community. Outside of school, she volunteers at multiple organizations, and loves to travel. Sarah could not be any more excited to be spending another amazing summer at her home away from home!
Hope is from Toronto and is currently attending high school at Humberside Collegiate Institute. Hope is thrilled to be returning to Arowhon for her 7th summer and her 1st year on staff as a counsellor, after completing Arowhon’s LIT program last August. Outside of camp, Hope is a member of her school’s Model UN team and a co-founder of her school’s book club. She’s also spent many wonderful hours volunteering in her school’s art department, doing everything from grade 8 tours, to setting up displays. Hope is kind, hardworking, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome her to our 2017 staff team!
Abbey is from Toronto and is excited to be returning to camp for her 5th summer at Arowhon, after completing the LIT program last summer. Throughout the year, Abbey attends high school at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. Outside of camp, she teaches kids to ski and snowboard. At school, she participates in the Eco club where she take an interest in making the world a better place. In addition, Abbey actively volunteers with Chabbad’s Jteens where they give back to those in need. Abbey is looking forward to creating an incredible summer filled with fun for her campers, and cannot wait to be a staff at Camp Arowhon!
Ezra is from Toronto and is currently a Grade 11 student at Greenwood College School. At Greenwood, Ezra is a member of the Outdoor Education Committee and the Track and Field team. This summer will be he his 1st on staff, after completing the LIT program last summer, and spending seven years as a camper at Arowhon. In the city, Ezra has volunteered to help run the guitar club at Nelson Mandela Public School and teach math to the students there. Ezra is thrilled to be joining the staff team this year, and can’t wait for the summer to begin!
Jake is from Buffalo New York and attends East Aurora High School. He completed the Camp Arowhon LIT program last summer, and is excited for his 1st year as a Counsellor. At home he is currently working for a newspaper and sometimes he baby-sits on the side. He volunteers at the local children’s museum. When he was a camper at Arowhon, he loved to kayak in play boats. Jake is a member of his schools swim team, and he runs in cross country and track. Jake is a caring and strong-minded individual who always does what is best for his campers. We can’t wait to have

Benjamin is from Toronto and is entering grade 12 at TanenbaumCHAT. He has been a camper at Arowhon for eight years and last year he completed the Arowhon LIT program. This is Benjamin’s 1st year on staff and he is excited to be a counselor. When not in school, Benjamin enjoys spending his time playing soccer, participating in Model UN competitions, and performing in many school shows. Benjamin also works with his local community creating and leading educational programs for children and their parents. Benjamin has an amazing ability to relate to children through creativity, athleticism and a positive attitude. We are thrilled to welcome Benjamin as part of our staff team this summer.
Malcom is from Toronto, and attends Toronto Prep School. He is currently in grade 11, and this will be my 9th summer at Arowhon. This summer will be his 1st year as a counsellor at Arowhon, though he completed the Camp Arowhon LIT program last summer. Malcom looks forward to being at camp more than anything else – being in such a fun environment brought out the best in him, and he looks forward to doing the same for others. Outside of camp, Malcom plays basketball, baseball and competitive hockey, and he’s also a swim instructor. He loves having a ton of fun and creating a warm environment for everybody around me. Malcom recently won the Heart Award for ice hockey, and he was named ball hockey MVP.
Cooper is from Toronto and attends Upper Canada College. Cooper has been attending the Arowhon for the past nine years, and last summer he completed Camp Arowhon’s LIT program. This will be Coopers 10th summer at camp, and his 1st on staff. Outside of camp, Cooper is an active participant in several extra-curricular activities, including the Model United Nations Club, the Debating Club, and the Reach for the Top trivia team at UCC, in addition to studying Karate and other martial arts. Cooper has also volunteered in the UCC Horizons program, a program where students teach and mentor underprivileged youth from other parts of Toronto. Cooper is also an avid historian, and loves to learn about various different historical eras.
Sam is from Toronto and attends Lawrence Park CI. This summer will be his 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon, after previously spending his past 7 summers at camp and completing the LIT program this past summer. Outside of camp Sam plays basketball, tennis, soccer, and rugby. In school, Sam belongs to the Model United Nations club and DECA club, as well as being part of the Buddy program, which involves helping the new grade 9’s with their transition from middle school to high school. Sam loves camp and is extremely excited for his 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon.
Oliver is excited to be returning to Arowhon for his 10th summer and can’t wait to finally be a counselor and share his love of camp with others. In Toronto, Oliver attends Lawrence Park where he plays rugby, volleyball, skis, and is a member of his school’s athletic council. Oliver is passionate about music and plays both drums and guitar. Having completed his LIT summer last year, Oliver can’t wait to be back on Lake Teepee for another amazing summer.
Ben was born and raised in Toronto and attends Northern Secondary School. This summer he will be returning to Camp Arowhon for his 9th year, after being an LIT and a camper. Ben is a part of Northern Secondary’s United Way dancing and fashion show to raise money for the United Way organization. Ben is also a member of the Northern Buddies, a group that helps ease the transition of new grade 9s into the school. One of Ben’s main interests is drama, and he is an active participant in his schools drama program. Ben is so happy to be returning to Arowhon again, and looks forward to the new memories to be made.
Sam is from Toronto and has completed grade 11 at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. This summer will be his 1st year as a junior counsellor at Camp Arowhon, after completing the LIT program last summer. Prior to this, Sam was an Arowhon camper for a number of years. As a camper, he enjoyed his time time at Sail with his friends and counsellors. Outside of camp, Sam plays rugby with his club the Toronto Scottish and actively participates in drama programs in and outside of school. He has also won numerous awards sailing with the Royal Canadian Yacht Club. Furthermore, Sam is an active member of his synagogue and participates in various activities with his community, such as the Out of The Cold program. Sam is excited for this summer at Camp and plans to give his campers the best experience possible!
Chris is from Toronto and is entering his 3rd year at McGill University, studying Political Science with a minor in Chinese language. This will be his 1st year at Arowhon, but not his first experience at a camp. He has been a camper at Ekon for 6 years as well as an LIT, in addition to being a counsellor and exec member for his high school’s grade 9 orientation camp at Camp White Pine. Chris has a passion for sports, and has played basketball and baseball for nearly 10 years, as well as being on the McGill Varsity Quidditch team. He also loves playing guitar and harmonica, as well as reading. Last summer, Chris taught English at a university in East Java, Indonesia, before backpacking through Vietnam. This summer before camp, Chris will be spending a month and a half in China studying Mandarin and travelling. In addition to Mandarin, Chris is also proficient in Italian and French. He is very excited to begin working at Arowhon this summer and can’t wait to meet his campers!
Damian is from Melbourne, Australia. This will be his 1st summer at Camp Arowhon and he couldn’t be any more excited! Damo currently works in a gym with wonderful friends, and enjoys helping people change there lives for the better though fitness and nutrition. He has always wanted to work with kids, and help them become the best they can possibly be. Damian loves playing Basketball and Australian Football, as well as Kayaking. Damian has travelled all around America, and Australia, and he wishes to pursue a life of helping people and making the world better, wherever that pursuit leads him. Damian can’t wait to have the time of his life at Camp Arowhon in Canada, make lots of new friends and help change lives!
Erica is graduating this spring with a degree in French and Drama from Queen’s University and will be attending teacher’s college next year. Erica isn’t new to Arowhon, as she was a camper and LIT, but has since been travelling, teaching and has worked for the York Region School Board summer programs and Camp Muskoka. Outside of her camp life, Erica is a teacher’s assistant for the French department at Queen’s University and is also a volunteer note taker for students with disabilities. Winter is another important season for Erica as she has been curling for 14 years and is on the varsity curling team at Queen’s University. She also enjoys the unique sport of inner tube water polo! She can’t wait for a summer full of fun and adventure at Arowhon!
Andi is from Windsor and going into his 3rd year at Western University, where he is completing an Ivey HBA and Economics dual degree. This will be his 1st summer at Arowhon, though he has worked as a Summer Camp Counsellor for 2 years. Andi has played competitive hockey and soccer for over 8 years, and enjoys rock climbing. During his free time he plays League of Legends competitively, and was ranked one of the top 200 players in North America. Andi plans on exploring China before coming to Arowhon and sharing an exciting summer with fellow staff and campers.
Sarah is from Chatham, ONtario, and this will be her 1st summer at Arowhon! She studies Geography and Family & Child Studies at the University of Guelph, loves to work with kids and hopes to become an elementary school teacher in the future. She leads a weekly reading circle for students in Grades 2 and 3, has volunteered at a homework club for students in Kindergarten to Grade 8, and has done child care at the Chatham-Kent Women’s Center for 2 years. She was a Camp Hawk Leader, which is a program to welcome Grade 8 students to high school, and loves to volunteer for Relay for Life, Goodfellows, Operation Backpacks and Let’s Talk Science. Sarah enjoys theater, competitive dance, soccer and travelling.
Kaya lives in Toronton, and is graduating from Branksome Hall this spring. This will be her 1st year at Arowhon and she is ecstatic to be joining the team! She has previously worked at the Academy of Musical Theatre in Perth, Ontario as a volunteer camp counselor to children aged 5-12, and at the Black Market vintage clothing store. She has a strong music and theatre background, attending the Interprovincial Music Camp at Camp Manitou for the past four summers and acting as the junior head of Drama at Branksome Hall. At school Kaya has acted as head of the Dance Company, leading warm-ups and choreographing routines, and participated in a community service trip to Costa Rica where she stayed with a family of eight children and worked to help improve their community centre and church. She has also received the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. In the fall she plans to attend Wilfred Laurier University for Film Studies.
Stephanie lives in Toronto, and graduated from Humber College with an “Acting for Film and Television” Diploma. She spent the past year studying yoga and travelling. This will be her 1st summer at Arowhon and she cannot be more excited! Stephanie loves being creative, swimming, hiking and looking on the bright side. In her senior year of high school she won a “Cappie” for “Best Comedic Actress”, was an assistant CanSkate coach, and a peer mentor for gr. 9 students. In her free time, Stephanie loves writing, playing guitar, and walking her dog Leo. Stephanie sees beauty and individuality in everybody. She is looking forward to helping the campers at Arowhon understand that their individuality is what makes them shine! Camp Arowhon, here she comes!
Mack is a proud Toronto native currently attending Northern Secondary School. He is going into his 8th year at camp and his 1st year on staff, after being an LIT last summer. As a camper, Mack loved going to landsports, climbing, drama and canoe tripping. During the year, Mack works as an baseball umpire, a coach for a house league basketball team for 12 and 13 year-olds and a ski instructor (if it ever snows). At school, he is the Vice-President of the student council, plays trombone in the band and plays rugby. Mack is very caring, funny and energetic, and looks to create close bonds with all of his campers.
Tara was born and bred in Harare, Zimbabwe where she has been teaching High School English for the past 7 years, after returning from university in South Africa where she studied English and Art History.She loves travelling and takes every opportunity she can, especially to hike, camp and swim in the sea! She’s been lucky enough to visit much of Southern Africa, and has previously spent summers exploring bits of Europe and Thailand. She is a fair-weather yogi who can’t touch her toes, and enjoy hanging out in the gym, probably socializing more than exercising! She loves down time with a good book, and afternoon naps in the sun with her dog. She’s super excited for a new adventure and her 1st at Arowhon!
Caroline is coming to us from the east coast of Canada, hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Caroline studies at Dalhousie University, pursuing her passion for neuroscience. Throughout high school Caroline had been the stage manager organizing the school musicals and had been on the executive council for yearbook. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, photography, sailing, and travelling the world. On her most recent trip to Curacao, she received her certification to become a scuba diver. For many summers now Caroline has either been on the laser radial race team or coaching young sailors in mastering the art that is sailing. In Nova Scotia, Caroline was a camper Big Cove YMCA camp where she went on to complete the leadership program. This summer it is Caroline’s 1st year at Camp Arowhon and she is so excited to meet everyone, make friends and have an amazing summer out on Teepee Lake!
Ellie will be returning for her 9th summer at camp after taking a year off to travel and complete a course. Although this will be her 1st year on staff, she was a camper at Arowhon for 7 years before completing the LIT program. Ellie has volunteered running clubs with underprivileged youth. She is from Toronto and attends Parsons School of Design in New York City. As a counsellor, she hopes to give her campers the same amazing experiences she was provided as a camper at Arowhon. Ellie cannot wait to be back on the shores of Teepee Lake indulging her passion for the outdoors.
Will is from Toronto and is a student at CHAT high school. This will be his 9th summer at camp and his 1st on staff after completing the LIT program last year. As a camper Will spent most of his time windsurfing or at landsports. Outside of camp, Will loves to play hockey, basketball, and baseball. Will has also been refereeing minor hockey for 5 years and has coached hockey and flag football teams. At school Will is a student leader who leads school trips and tours for prospective students. He is also involved in his school’s Model United Nations club. We are sure Will is going to be a great counsellor and can’t wait to have him on the team this summer!
Hannah lives and studies in Toronto. This will be Hannah’s 9th year at Camp Arowhon and her 1st year as a counsellor after completing the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp Hannah has spent the past two years working at her synagogue, teaching weekly programs to young children. At school she is on the field hockey, wrestling and soccer teams as well as being involved in drama productions. Hannah is a caring, responsible and thoughtful person who loves spending time with children. We are delighted to have her on staff this summer!
Tyler is from Detroit, Michigan and this will be his 8th summer at camp. In school, he was the captain of the junior varsity tennis team and now plays varsity tennis as well as golf. He enjoys ski instructing, playing golf, as well as watching hockey. He works weekly at his local club teaching kids how to play tennis and on the weekends he teaches skiing to kids. Tyler has been a camper since the age of 9, when Daniel Levin and himself became 2 of the 1st campers from Detroit in several years. Fun fact: previously camp used to have a bus from Detroit! Tyler helps out with the peer corps movement and is a member of the National Honors Society. One interesting fact about Tyler is that he is working towards getting his pilot’s license.
Hailing from Ithaca, NY, Theo is excited to be returning for his 9th year at Camp Arowhon. Before joining our staff team, Theo spend 7 years as a camper and completed the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp, Theo plays soccer for his school team, which is ranked 5th in the United States. As a Link Leader at his high school, Theo is a role model to his peers and works to help younger students adapt to the high school environment. Theo is also committed to community service, and after the ebola outbreak in Africa, he helped raise money for Doctors Without Borders. Theo loves to stay active and have fun, which is why we know he’ll make an incredible counsellor!
Syd is from Toronto and is excited to be returning for her 9th summer at Arowhon after completing our LIT program last summer. During the year Syd is a teacher’s assistant at the Front and Centre Dance Academy where she enjoys taking classes herself. She is also a choreographer for her school’s annual dance/fashion show, plays on several sports teams, and is a member of the athletic council and DECA teams. Every week in the winter Syd volunteers for Out of the Cold, a program that provides the homeless community of Toronto with food, shelter and clothing during the cold winter months. Syd is looking forward to spending another amazing summer at camp and can’t wait to see everyone and make many new friends!
Sophie is back for her 8th summer at Arowhon! She lives in New York City and studies at Princeton University. Sophie was a camper at Arowhon for several years, and completed the LIT program in 2014. Outside of school Sophie does lots of work in politics, and founded the political magazine at her high school. She is so excited to return to Arowhon after traveling around Southeast Asia last summer.
Rae is thrilled to be back at camp for her 11th summer. After taking last summer off to travel and do community service, Rae is extremely excited to be a counsellor this year. Back home in Toronto, Rae leads a community service program at her school and is a peer mentor for tutoring younger students. Throughout her camp experience, Rae has had over 20 counsellors that have all been amazing role models. Inspired by these previous leaders, Rae is excited to go back to camp in hopes of giving her campers an amazing and unforgettable summer.
Rachel is form Toronto and was a camper at Arowhon for 8 years and an LIT last July. She keeps busy after school at her job teaching young children swimming lessons and swimming herself! She is head of finances on her school’s social committee, and also volunteers at MukiBaum foundation, helping children with mental and physical disabilities. Rachel loves camp and is a caring and friendly person, who is very excited for her 1st year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon.
Noa is from Toronto and can’t wait to finally be joining the staff team after 9 incredible summers as a camper and then an LIT. Noa’s favorite activities at camp include tennis, windsurfing and landsports. Outside of camp, Noa plays hockey, baseball, tennis, and skis. He is a certified ski instructor, hockey referee, and is the head of CHAT’s Music Appreciation Club. Noa is also a member of Model United Nations and volunteers at Out of the Cold and at the Arowhon in Action events. Noa is very excited to return to camp and Algonquin this summer and hopes to make everyone enjoy camp as much as he does.
Matthew Shade Silver
Matthew, a native of Toronto, is returning to Camp Arowhon for his 5th summer after graduating from our LIT program. At school he is a mentor to younger students and a member of the volleyball and basketball teams. This year he had the opportunity to visit India and work with children at the Global Pathways School. He has been presented with multiple awards including community service, global citizen, sportsmanship, science, and the Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award. During the winter months, Matthew can be found on the slopes teaching kids to ski. He is proud to have initiated a charity called “Bike 4 Kids” that has collected over 200 bikes that have been refurbished and distributed to underprivileged children in Toronto. “Shady” is proud to be a part of the Arowhon family and looks forward to giving back by providing a positive contribution to each camper’s summer experience.
Luca attends school in Toronto and will be returning for his 6th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. Luca loves being on Teepee Lake and as a camper spent as much time as possible in a sail boat . Outside of camp, Luca plays baseball, hockey, and is a member of the school ski team. He has also volunteered at Brown School to referee an after-school ball hockey program, serves as a campaigner for the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his neighborhood, and is an active member of Northern’s Second Harvest committee. Before camp, Luca is working at Sporting Life selling sports gear. In his spare time, Luca likes to draw and is a talented cartoonist. Luca is looking forward to working with campers to make this summer unforgettable.
Louise is from Toronto and is excited to be returning on staff for her 9th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. At school, Louise plays rugby, swims, and participates in her school’s model United Nations club. She is also a member of her school’s Buddies group, a program that helps integrate grade nines into high school life. Through Buddies, Louise has lead sessions on stress and homework management and been a counsellor on the school camping trip. Outside of school, Louise volunteers with Out of the Cold and Right to Play. She is so excited to meet her new campers and help make their summer’s the best yet!
Leah is from Buffalo, New York and is excited to celebrate her 10th summer at Arowhon! During the year, Leah is involved in her school’s chorus, acapella group, varsity soccer team, school yearbook, and Shakespeare program. Last year Leah had the opportunity to represent Western New York in the National Shakespeare Competition in New York City! She volunteers with a tutoring program for refugee children in Buffalo, as well as with her Jewish youth group, where she serves as president of the Buffalo chapter, and on the International Board for Israel Affairs. Leah is a hardworking, kind and energetic girl, and we are so excited to have her join our staff team this year!
Katharine (KK) McCallum
Katharine is from London, UK and this will be her 9th summer at Arowhon where she was a camper for 7 years before completing our LIT program. Her camp resume includes achieving her 1st class award in horseback riding as well as being a Colour War captain and going to Brent and back. Outside of camp, she loves sports, music and travelling as well as debating. Katharine is on her school’s field hockey, netball and racquets teams and is also a member of the Jazz band and student council. Also, during the school week she volunteers at an elementary school twice a week to teach Latin. She can’t wait to come back to camp for another amazing summer!
Jack lives in Toronto and will be returning for his 9th summer at camp. This will be his 1st year on staff after finishing up the LIT program last year. Jack is a member of his school’s hockey, golf, and flag football teams. Outside of school, Jack plays competitive hockey and is also an avid fan of both basketball and football. You may remember Jack from when he helped run our Arowhon in action skating event last year. Jack is incredibly caring, spirited, and easy going. We are thrilled to have him join our staff this summer.
After completing the LIT program last year J.J. is very excited to be coming back to camp for his 9th summer and 1st year on staff! J.J. is from Toronto. Over the years outside of camp, J.J. has participated in his school show choir, musical, and volunteers at the annual Parkinson’s Superwalk. J.J. is incredibly excited to spend another summer at his favourite place in the world.
This summer will be Ira’s 1st year on staff after an incredible 8 years as a camper and then going on to comple the LIT program. During the year he works at Forest Hill arena as a hockey referee. As a hockey player himself, he has won many titles. As well as hockey, basketball and rugby are some of his favorite school sports to play. He loves participating in charity walks like the Hodgkin’s Lymphoma event in hopes of raising money and spreading awareness of the disease. We are lucky to have Ira on our staff this summer!
Daniel can’t wait to be a counsellor at Camp Arowhon – or as he calls it “the greatest place on earth” – this summer. A student in West Bloomfield, Michigan, he tries to be as active as possible in the school community. He plays football (American), basketball, and lacrosse, while also serving as the class president and the secretary for the school’s science and engineering club. Daniel is planning to pursue a biology degree, and then attend medical school to become a physician. This summer will be Daniel’s 8th at Camp, and after participating in the LIT program last year, we are overjoyed to welcome him as a 2016 staff member. Daniel loves all aspects of camp life, whether on trip or in camp, he is always having a great time. He is a truly caring, hard-working, and fun person, who consistently has a positive impact on everyone who is around him.
Bevvy is a student in Toronto and is excited to be returning for her 4th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last year. Bevvy’s always enjoyed every activity as a camper, but especially loves being in the water. In her spare time, she is a competitive swimmer and is on the athletic council at her school. She has also been an active volunteer for the charity Jacob’s Ladder and with a school program called Project Give Back. Bevvy is very excited to go back to camp and can’t wait to be at her home away from home.
Benn is from Toronto and can’t wait to receive his 10 year jacket marking his decade-long commitment to Arowhon this summer! During the year, Benn works at a restaurant and volunteers with the Hockey Heroes program teaching disadvantaged youth how to play hockey and at an after school program with the Miles Nadal JCC. During his time at camp he had many fun experiences, with highlights being archery, landsports and completing both Brent and Whitney trips. He was so positively influenced by his counsellors growing up and wishes to do the same for future campers. He loves sports and is on the athletic committee at his school. He plays hockey, rugby, basketball, and skis whenever he gets a chance. He also participates in the peer mentoring program at his school. He can’t wait for another active summer in Algonquin Park!
Ari comes to us from Montreal. This will be her 8th summer at Arowhon and her 1st year on staff after having completed the LIT program last summer. During the school year, Ari coaches a girls’ hockey development program in the winter and a girls’ soccer team in the spring. She also enjoys playing hockey and soccer on her own teams. Ari loves Arowhon and is can’t wait to get back there and give her campers their best summer yet!
Anna Lisa Lowenstein
Anna Lisa is from Toronto. She completed the LIT program last summer and is extremely excited to be returning on staff for her 9th Arowhon summer. During her time away from camp, Anna Lisa mentors younger students as a peer supporter. She plays for her school hockey and soccer teams and is an active member of the debate club. Anna Lisa looks forward to making this summer the best yet for all of her campers at her favourite place in the world.
Andie is a student from Toronto. After spending 7 years as a camper, and then completing the LIT program last summer she is excited to be returning for her 1st year on staff! In the city, Andie is very active both within her school’s community and outside. She’s a member of her school’s athletic council, plays on many varsity sports teams and volunteers weekly at Baycrest geriatric center. Andie can’t wait to be back on Teepee Lake to make new memories and have her best summer yet!
Adam was born and raised in Toronto. This will be Adam’s 1st year on staff, and his 9th year at Arowhon, after completing the LIT program in 2014. Passionate about all things at camp, Adam can’t wait to return to Arowhon and give back to the place that made his past 8 summers so memorable. At school Adam is a member of the Buddy program which helps integrate grade 9 students into their 1st year of high school. Adam is also an executive member of his school’s Boys Athletic Association. Adam volunteers as a flag football coach and teaches swimming to children at a downtown community centre. In his free time Adam is a member of his school’s ultimate frisbee team, and is an avid downhill skier and mountain biker.
Ariel is a student from Toronto and is looking forward to her 2nd summer as a counsellor. She loved each of her 9 years as an Arowhon camper and LIT thought it couldn’t get any better than that until she got to be a counsellor for the Inter Girls last summer! During the school year, Ariel plays on her school’s volleyball team, runs track and field, and was a mentor for grade 9 students. She also teaches skiing, volunteers at her local Out of the Cold shelter, and plays tennis. Ariel is passionate about camp, and can’t wait for another great summer with her campers!
Born and raised in Toronto, Shiv is thrilled to be returning for another summer at Arowhon – his 12th! He’s worked with kids of all ages, from counselling 6 year olds at Bayview Glen Day Camp, to being a counsellor for Senior Boys at Arowhon last summer. He is looking forward to having a fantastic time with all of his campers, and making it a summer they will never forget. We are ecstatic that Shiv and his outgoing personality will be rejoining us this summer!
Lewie is a student from Toronto. This is will be Lewie’s 2nd year on staff and his 10th at Arowhon!. As a camper, you would often find Lewie excelling at his 2 favourite activities: A&C and canoeing, where he got his 2nd class award. Outside of camp Lewie is an active member of his school’s Jewish Student Union and Me to We Clubs. He enjoys volunteering at his synagogue as well as the Out of the Cold and Ve’ahavta programs for Toronto’s homeless. Lewie loves Camp Arowhon, his 2nd home, and cannot wait to share yet another incredible summer at camp with his campers!
Evan is a student from Toronto and will be spending his 11th year at camp this summer. He is excited to be returning to camp for his 2nd summer as a counsellor. As a camper Evan enjoyed spending time at the sail dock and on the tennis courts. Outside of camp Evan is a ski coach at Alpine Ski Club and enjoys competing in many sports such as hockey, soccer and running. At school Evan is a part of business council and is a student mentor. Evan considers camp his 2nd home and looks forward to an incredible summer with his campers!
Danielle is a student from Toronto who has been a camper at Arowhon for a total of 10 summers, this being her 2nd on staff! Danielle is passionate about international volunteer work and has traveled to Africa and India to teach at various schools. She also participates in all of her school’s plays including this year’s production of “Footloose”. Arowhon is happy to welcome her back for another amazing summer!
Anna calls the east coast of Canada her home, coming from Halifax, Nova Scotia where she studies management and women’s studies at Dalhousie University. She is a member of Dalhousie’s model UN team and a representative on the Women in Leadership Society, giving women in the community a voice and platform to create equal opportunity. In her spare time, she enjoys running, going on hikes, and is on a constant search for the perfect burger and milkshake combo. Last summer was Anna’s 1st time being a camp counsellor and she loved it so much she’s coming back for another amazing summer. She can’t wait to get back to working at the barn and going on trip in Algonquin Park with her campers!
Stefanie has completed her first year at Queen’s University and is thrilled to come back to Camp Arowhon for her 3rd year on staff. Stefanie has a background of working with children with developmental disabilities, through a co-op program at Beverley Street Public School. In addition, she completed leadership programs at Camp Kitchikewana, Childrens Arts Theatre School and University of Toronto Camps. She has also instructed swimming at Jack of Sports. Stefanie enjoys the outdoors and all summer activities, and is certified with her NLS. She is an enthusiastic, fun, and genuinely caring leader who is sure to have a positive impact on campers this summer at camp Arowhon, just as she did her past two years! This summer, she will continue to act as a mentor for the campers at Arowhon as she teaches them social and physical skills, while incorporating Arowhon’s principles of caring, learning and respect.
Helena is from Toronto and will be celebrating her 9th summer with us at Arowhon. After 7 great years as a camper and LIT, and a very wonderful summer last year as a 1st year counsellor working with the Junior Girls, and an assistant on FAD (fitness, aerobics, and dance), Helena is thrilled to be coming back. Helena studies Health Science at Queen’s University. Outside of school, Helena spends her time volunteering at Drama Ways, a program for adults and kids with developmental disorders. Helena is an extremely enthusiastic, caring, and dedicated counsellor. She is delighted to be returning to Tepee Lake for another amazing summer!
This is Nikki’s 9th year at camp and 2nd year as a counsellor. She loved last summer and had such a great time working with the Junior Girls section! During the year Nikki volunteers at a horse and dog rescue farm, and at school plays on the tennis and volleyball teams! Nikki is super excited to be back at camp and to have the best summer yet!
