Yishai and his family live in Toronto and this will be his 3rd summer as part of the Med Lodge Staff at Arowhon. He is a family doctor in Markham and works at the Markham Stouffville Hospital as well. His wife Lisa and daughter Yael are looking forward to hanging out on Teepee Lake and his boys, Jamie and Robbie, have been counting down the days for camp to start since the fall. Aside from doctoring, Yishai is excited to help bait hooks for campers during staff hour fishing off the docks.

Suzanne Piche
Suzanne Piche

Sue is originally from Brockville, Ontario. She has 2 grown boys now living in the Toronto area. Her nursing career has varied; she started as a home care nurse in Ontario before joining the military. Then she traveled and lived in many parts of Canada and Germany. She is retired from the military and lives in Denmark with her husband. She works part time in Denmark and throughout Europe on contracts for the Canadian military. She went to camp as a teenager in Ontario for a single summer and really enjoyed it. In the military, she has worked with many cadet camps (ages 10 to 15 year olds) and they were very different. A friend said she would be good at one of the summer camps, so this year she’ll try it. She’s all ready excited that she doesn’t have to sleep in a tent!

Dr. Melissa Nutik
Dr. Melissa Nutik

Melissa lives with her husband, Saul Mandelbaum (an Arowhon alumnus), and her 2 sons, Elijah and Gabriel, in Toronto. She works as a family physician at Mount Sinai Hospital where she sees patients of all ages and delivers babies. She is faculty at the University of Toronto medical school where she is actively involved training medical students and resident doctors. Although this is her 1st summer as a doctor at Arowhon, she is no stranger to Alqonquin Park, having spent many summers canoe tripping in the park with friends and her family. She and the boys (especially Saul) are looking forward to a great summer at Arowhon. Paddling by the camp on past canoe trips, Gabriel has just about jumped from the canoe and swam up to join a cabin. Finally his wish is coming true this year.

Dr. Erin Norris
Dr. Erin Norris

Erin and her family are very excited to return to Camp Arowhon this year for their 2nd summer. Her husband, Larry Davidson, is an Arowhon alumnus and she has been hearing camp stories from him for more than 20 years. Erin’s love of the outdoors was fostered by 11 summers of overnight camp and she cherishes time with her family spent at the cottage, where she is the unofficial head of A&C. In Toronto, Erin is a rheumatologist and licensed internist specializing in metabolic bone disease at St. Michael’s Hospital and is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. When she is not busy at work, you can find her practicing yoga, training for a mud run or chasing her 3 children, Rebecca, Judah and Leah. She is pleased to relinquish Rebecca to the Arowhon counsellors for the summer.

Dr. Andrea Somers
Dr. Andrea Somers

Andrea lives in Toronto with her husband Jack and sons, Jonah and Sam. She is an emergency room doctor and has worked at University Health Network for the last 8 years. She also works at Medcan in the Medical Wellness Clinic providing urgent care to clinic members. Andrea is no stranger to Algonquin Park! She credits her love of the outdoors to summers as a camper in Algonquin and Muskoka and to family vacations spent at Arowhon Pines. She is also no stranger to camp doctoring – this will be her 4th summer caring for happy campers. The whole family is counting down the days until camp and looking forward to their 3rd summer!

Catherine Lloyd
Catherine Lloyd

Catherine lives in Montreal but was born in Saskatchewan. She was introduced to camp life as a child and enjoyed many summers at camp. She loves to travel and is looking forward to her 2nd summer at Arowhon as a camp nurse. Catherine has worked in many different areas of nursing including the Montreal Children’s Hospital for 12 years with all ages of children, in geriatric populations and community mental health. She is a clinical instructor for nursing students at McGill University. In her spare time she likes to knit, read and do genealogy research. She’s looking forward to spending time outdoors in nature, and to planting a garden outside the Med Lodge!

Alexandra Warnaar
Alexandra Warnaar

Born and raised in Toronto, Alexandra lives in Brampton with her husband and 2 children (Arowhon campers!). She has been working on the pediatric intensive care unit for over 20 years, so she is an expert in kids’ health. She also volunteers at her kids’ school and has been a camp nurse before. As a child, Alexandra attended camp on Lake Temagami for 5 summers so the Algonquin wilderness felt like home to her right away. She enjoys being active outside (especially running) and going on adventurous trips. A favourite outdoor experience of hers is white-water rafting in the Northwest Territories. We are so pleased to have Alexandra’s energy and experience on our medical team for a 6th summer and we can only hope she sticks around for many more!!
