Campfire Magic

Energy was high and spirits were up around camp today with another perfect weather day. Now that we’re past the 2 week mark and everyone is starting to feel more comfortable with the routine, we’re working on keeping things fresh so nobody gets bored (is that even possible at a camp with 18 activities?). The canoe instructors announced the Green Leech “canoe” race where campers have to create their own vessels to paddle – anything BUT an actual canoe is allowed – so there are lots of DIY projects happening around camp… it’s like real life Pinterest board:). The Senior Girls interrupted dinner announcements with a flash mob dance party that got the whole main lodge up and dancing, and we’ve postponed the regular Sunday sleep-in because of an extra special day happening tomorrow that is too secret to even disclose here (check back tomorrow to find out what it is).

The cherry on today was an incredible evening campfire (actually a beautiful tissue paper construction of one due to the fire ban). Acts ranged from soulful to downright zany (picture a staff dressed in a monkey costume smushing banana all over his face). One of the cool things about having so many new staff this year is that we get to learn a whole bunch of new campfire songs from other places – a fave tonight was brought to us by Reggie Guitar; Cows with Guns may just go down in Arowhon history as a new classic.
