Carnival Craze

We were all excited to finally see the sun come out this morning! Campers and staff alike woke up refreshed after an ETB leading into the first Sunday brunch of the month. Campers enjoyed their chocolate croissants, smoked salmon, and eggs to order while soaking up the rays of sunshine on the ML steps and lawn. This morning was super general and the distance swims and despite the chill in the air we still had an impressive number of campers from all sections show up to do the 1/4 mile, 1/2 mile, and full mile swims!

The morning ended with an incredible surprise: a fake continuous bell that introduced not an emergency but Carnival Day 2017!!! The skit was a dance extravaganza, including a flashmob, kayak routine, and the coordinators riding in on horseback. The afternoon was just the right kind of chaos: campers and staff running around together giving and getting soak-o-grams, getting faces painted, bouncing on inflatable toys, and of course stuffing their faces with carnival goodies like cotton candy, sno-cones, and ice cream sandwiches. The afternoon ended with an awesome slideshow collected by Bill Film to help us remember the special moments.

This evening the Senior Girls were the lucky ones as they were treated to night sailing under the huge orange harvest moon. Their laughter echoed over the lake as the sun set and the moonlight took over. Meanwhile, the Junior Boys and Senior Boys partnered up for Junior Senior night and played board games with their buddies and the Juniors are now being tucked into bed by their “big brothers.”

We’re also so proud of all of the high class awards campers are receiving already, most notably the FIRST EVER person to get their firsts in guitar! Rock on Arowhonites!!!
