Inter Long Trips, Sunday Brunch and LIT Shadow Day

A bunch of Inter Girls and Boys signed up to go on seven-day canoe trips, so tonight they were called up to stand in front of the entire dining hall after dinner while the Head Tripper made a moving speech about their courage and how proud we all are of the for taking on this challenge…. I have TWO raspberry pies to make later tonight – This is such a great wild berry summer thanks to the heat that oodles of campers are picking enough berries for a pie…. They say an army marches on its stomach: Further to the food theme, today was Sunday sleep-in and optional brunch… Eggs to order in the kitchen, smoked salmon and bagels with cream cheese, chocolate croissants and fruit… It’s the one day of the week when kids are allowed to come to the meal in their PJ’s and everyone sits wherever they want. It was such a nice morning that most everyone ate outside…

We’re just finishing off LIT (Leader-in-Training) Shadow Day. That means every LIT has spent from breakfast till 9:15 pm shadowing a Senior Staff person… My LIT shadow is beside me as I write this. I think he may be a little tired out from my day. The purpose of Shadow Day is for the LITs to learn about how we all run camp, each in our own specific role. They’re meeting in the LIT cabin at 9:30 tonight to debrief their day, each to report what they learned about what we do and how we do it.
