Long Trip is Back!!!

It was another beautiful, breezy day in Algonquin but the highlight was definitely the return of the Senior Boys’ long trip. After 10 days of trail blazing the Temagami wilderness, navigating exhilarating white water, and conquering challenging portages, they paddled back onto Teepee Lake with style. The entire camp ran down to the waterfront to meet them, and as they paddled in we sang “We Welcome you to Arowhon” at the top of our lungs. Then (as is the tradition for all special trips returning to camp), they dumped their canoes and all the Point Men (and Swift the camp dog) jumped in the water to greet them with hugs, back slaps, and an emphatic round of the Point cheer.  Seeing the pride and joy expressed by the Point Men in their brothers’ achievement inspired the whole camp.

Camp is abuzz with planning creative crafts for tomorrow’s Green Leech canoe race (where you can paddle anything but a regular canoe) and preparing for the tennis and dodgeball tournaments that are under way. Tonight the Senior Boys and Senior Girls are excited for their evening activity of swimming charades, and the Junior Girls are even more excited that they fiiiiiiiinally got tuck! We are all tired after the big day and looking forward to tonight’s ETB and falling asleep to the calls of the loons.
