Mini Camp! Mini Camp!

It was a wet but wonderful day on the planet – we didn’t let the rain get us down! In fact, we put on our rain gear and jumped in the puddles and showed that Arowhon campers keep going through rain or shine and always find the silver lining in our Algonquin clouds. Despite the rain we were able to show our 40 mini campers the true spirit of camp. Every mini camper was greeted with huge smiles and infectious enthusiasm from campers and staff alike and left camp at the end of the day looking forward to coming back next year to see Tepee Lake in the sun!

The mini campers had a day jam packed with activities: arts and crafts, boxing and dancing with FAD, rock climbing, hockey and dodgeball, drama games, and horseback riding. They also got tuck, wrote letters home, and were treated to some of our favourite campfire acts – a real taste of camp! We can’t wait to see them back again next year as campers!

As for the rest of camp, we kept playing outside! It was a pleasure (although not a surprise) to see the lake full of boats and everyone being so positive and hardcore. We also loved welcoming the Senior Girls back from their white water trip looking wet but proud… they really earned those hot showers! We were rewarded for our perseverance this evening when the rain abated for our annual Sadie Hawkins extravaganza. After dinner, we all put on our dogpatch best plaid shirts and pig tails and met in front of the ML where the girls chased the boys to catch a partner to “marry” at one of our funny booths (Harry Potter, Elvis, etc.). Then we had a banger of a dance (with tons of swag) hosted by the Magen Boys, as well as hay rides and a corn roast. It was definitely a day AND night to remember!
