More Sun and More Fun

The weather gods have been on our side this week as the streak of hot, sunny summer days continues. The lake was full of energy and laughter today as campers paddled, sailed, surfed, and swam under the Algonquin sun. We had the first sailing race of the summer at Rest Hour, and have started the August tennis tournament. Our staff basketball team is practicing daily to get in shape for the game against Tamakwa, and campers are having a great time being cheerleaders for their beloved staff. Campers have even started getting their high class awards, with 2 senior boys achieving their 2nds in riding and kayaking already!

Many of our inters are out on their canoe trips already and are undoubtably enjoying the beautiful weather. Mornings here are a buzz of energy with seniors up running, paddling, and portaging around camp to train for their push trips. We are inspired by their drive and dedication to this amazing physical and mental challenge. Each day we are grateful that we get to spend our summer in a world-class canoe tripping destination. The stars at night as we’re walking back to our cabins take our breath away, and the loon population is so plentiful this year that we go to sleep every night to the mournful sound of their calls. The occasional moose is icing on the cake!
