To Infinity and Beyond!!!

What a day!!!

Today dawned beautiful and sunny and we were treated to the beautiful sight of mist rising off the lake as we lined up for breakfast. The perfect summer weather continued throughout the day with a nice breeze pushing along sailboats and windsurfers and keeping ballers on the land nice and cool as they practiced for their high class tests in basketball and tennis. Campers were hard at work all day practicing for Arowhon-A-Palooza – the annual song and dance extravaganza which took place tonight in front of the whole camp in Rustic Lounge and had the audience cheering at the top of their lungs at the incredible talent shown by our campers. Highlights were some incredible dance numbers performed by Inter and Senior girls, hauntingly beautiful vocal performances by campers from all sections, and a crowd favourite of the Senior Backstreet Boys’ a capella version of “I Want it That Way.”

It was also a big day in the tripping world as we sent our Juniors out on their wilderness adventures, and welcomed back our 10 day senior trippers from their epic white water adventure on the Noire River. When they paddled on to the lake the entire camp ran down to the lake shore to greet them with deafening cheers and emotional hugs.

But the real icing on the cake was the post-Palooza treat: after the last act (a camp-wide sing-along to “Wagon Wheel”) the Section Heads lead all the campers down by torchlight to the front of the ML where they entered a broadway-worthy life-sized tableau of Andy’s room from Toy Story! A crew of staff dressed to the nines as toy soldiers, Barbie and Ken, and of course Buzz and Woody, performed a breathtaking skit introducing Colour War 2017. Campers were on their feet screaming with excitement and we hope they’ll be able to calm down enough to rest up for the big 2 days of friendly competition ahead!
