A Special Visitor

The sun continued to shine down on Algonquin Park today and we were glad with this weather to be out of the city and able to jump in the lake to cool down. The swim docks were the place to be for general today and the Jungle Joe and water tramps were more popular than ever.

We are excited to welcome one of our most treasured friends Seth Godin who arrived today from New York to help out on the canoe dock and hopefully tell his famous David Curhan story. But aside from his expert paddling and story-telling skills (not to mention his juggling talent and stylish spectacles) Seth brings us a priceless attitude and perspective that personifies what we want to teach kids at camp. The first thing Seth said to me after a warm embrace was “what can I do to help?”

While yes, Seth is a man of impressive intelligence and education, it is his ability to look around him and see opportunities that I believe contributed the most to his business success. Seth has taught us that in order to succeed at something you need to try and fail multiple times first, and that really there is no such thing as failure – only opportunities for growth. He’s taught us that no matter who you are, and how much money and fame you have, the most important job you can do is teaching children. And that you are never too old to come back to camp!
