Clowns and Acrobats and Jugglers Oh My!

Well we sure shook things up today!!! After a week of regular programming everyone was wondering what the next special activity would be, and nobody was disappointed! This morning at breakfast there was a strange announcement from Mike the Mighty Midget (who turned out to be Jo and Leon dressed up as one person) teaching us about personal hygiene and the danger pet mountain lions. And stuff just got crazier from there – we were ushered outside where a frantic circus master was fretting about his circus being burnt to the ground and all the performers disappearing. Luckily, with the help of some well-trained camp staff, we were able to rescue the traumatized clowns and jugglers and restore the Arowhon circus to its true glory.

The afternoon was spent in a giddy sugar-fuelled haze of blow-up obstacle courses, slip ‘n sliding off the sail dock into the lake, walking the tightrope across the swim dock, and of course plenty of soak-a-grams by the Senior Girls, and capped off with an amazing slideshow of memories of the day.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for the day, dinner dessert turned out to be ice cream which created a fabulous ruckus in the dining hall – imagine the sound of 450 spoons clanging against Melmac plates – where else could such pure, unadulterated childhood joy be not only tolerated but encouraged? Kids have to grow up so fast in the “real world” we love being able to provide them with the opportunity to get dirty, be silly, and just let loose… which of course is what Circus Day is all about. It was definitely worth postponing Sunday sleep-in for, and now we’re all excited to find out when the make-up one will be!
