David Curhan Returns

One of the best things about camp is all the traditions we look forward to year after year, and the past two days held some very special ones. Last night the Senior Boys gave us a beautifully written and performed production of Buck Lake – their satirical original play. Campers and staff were rolling with laughter seeing the boys dressed up as staff poking good old fashioned fun at the silly things staff have done. The show was followed by our first dance of the season with a campfire and marshmallow roasting for snack (many people’s rose of the day for cabin circle).

Our friend Seth Godin leaves tomorrow but his visit wouldn’t have been complete without his theatrical telling of Arowhon’s own famous ghost story: David Curhan. Those who dared hear the tale gathered in Rustic Lounge after dark to hear it, and he didn’t disappoint. It’s a good thing we trained our counsellors to comfort campers so well in pre-camp because we were all a bit jumpy after his dramatic performance.

We also enjoyed our first Sunday sleep-in and brunch today, complete with chocolate croissants, bagels with cream cheese and lox, and eggs to order in the kitchen. And it’s Junior Senior night for the boys so they got to sit with their buddies at dinner and are now enjoying a sleepover in the Point.

It’s been a full day of camp magic on Tepee Lake and we can’t wait to do it all again tomorrow!
