Smooth Sailing

Today was an awesome last day of activities for our 2 and 6 weekers. Despite a few spots of ‘silver sunshine’ throughout the day, there were a many standout moments that made it unforgettable.

During the rain at Rest Hour, the Salamaders Section had a huge puddle jumping dance party that ended up in swimming and singing in the rain.

Before dinner, there was a strong breeze for the final heat of the biggest sailing race of the summer: Wayne Peck.  It was a very tight competition showcasing some serious sailing skills, and was won in the end by the Slater-Lee brothers (who even beat Joanne!).

During dinner, we had our second 2nd class canoe speech in 2 days, and a newly minted 2nd class rider carried into the dining hall on the shoulders of proud friends. The applause was loud enough to scare away any lingering clouds!

The night ended with the much-anticipated Sadie Hawkins country-themed dance. It was a hilarious scene with lots of barbecued corn, campers getting “married,” enjoying the rodeo, and roasting marshmallows. The Magen Boys brought the energy and kept the dance floor packed, making us proud of the Arowhon spirit.
