The first full day of camp was everything we hoped for. The weather was perfect (sunny but not too hot), and we are thrilled to announce that every single camper passed their swim test!!!
After swim tests, Juniors were treated to hot chocolate in Director Mara’s cabin, and then everyone enjoyed a wonderfully jam-packed tour day where campers got to sample all of camp’s 20+ activities.
After a full day of getting to know all the instructors and building friendships in their cabin, campers are looking forward to choosing their own activities tomorrow and starting to work towards awards.
Camp magic really came alive in the Main Lodge tonight as the Senior Bears treated us to a beautiful sing-a-long, featuring “The Circle Game” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane” and the entire camp was up on benches swaying with their arms around each other.
After dinner, the drama staff finally revealed the Junior play! We have been patiently waiting for this announcement and it did not disappoint – the Juniors and Jinters can’t wait to try out for Annie (and we can’t wait to see how cute they are on the big stage).
Evening activity tonight was our traditional Friday night campfire, which was both wholesome and hilarious. Favourite acts were Senior Director Joanne telling the Arowhon origin story, an adorable juggling and dancing act from the Dragonflies, a hauntingly beautiful duet from two Tadpoles, a gag-worthy improv from some Loons, and the LITs leading us in singing “Home is wherever I’m with you,” making us all feel grateful for this amazing place and community.
We’re excited to see off our first set of canoe trips tomorrow (Bears, Loons, and the 21 day Missinaibi adventure!), and to play and grow along with your wonderful kids this summer.
Stay posted for cabin pictures posted here by end of weekend.
