Campers

Every skill. Every friendship. Every stretch outside their comfort zone. It all adds up.

At Camp Arowhon, programming isn’t filler between meals and free time. It’s the heartbeat of the day and the reason campers grow the way they do. We believe that when kids work toward real goals, with real guidance, they don’t just have fun. They feel powerful and capable. From the climbing wall to the campfire, everything we offer is built to stretch kids in all the best ways—physically, socially, and emotionally. The result? A summer that changes them, because it challenges them.

A Structure That Supports Growth

We don’t do “free choice, all day.” We also don’t do rigid, one-size-fits-all schedules. Instead, we’ve created a structure that balances skill-building with freedom, so kids feel grounded and empowered. Each camper chooses their activity path within a framework that encourages growth, variety, and progress. And when they show up each day to try, learn, and get a little better? That’s where the magic happens.

We Don’t Just Teach Activities—We Teach Mastery.

Every program is taught by instructors trained to teach, not just supervise. There’s a system, a path, and a sense of progress you can feel. Campers earn levels in each activity (Arowhon awards) and work toward badges that represent real skills. It’s not about competing against other campers—it’s about challenging themselves. It’s about pride. We don’t just teach camp skills. They’re life skills, wrapped in sunshine and lake water.

The Leadership Journey Starts Early

By the time campers reach their teen years, they’ve already built a strong foundation. Now, it’s about rising to the next challenge. Our Leadership Programs are immersive, intentional, and unlike anything else. Campers learn how to support others, how to lead with empathy, and how to step into responsibility with confidence. This isn’t pretend leadership. It’s the real thing—and they feel it.

Where Skills Meet Heart

Of course, we teach canoeing, sailing, drama, and climbing. There’s definitely swimming, ziplining, and horseback riding. But we also teach communication, conflict resolution, and perseverance. Every program at Arowhon weaves skill development with emotional awareness, because real growth happens when kids feel seen, supported, and safe enough to try. We don’t leave social-emotional learning to chance. It’s embedded in how we teach, how we lead, and how we care.
