There’s nothing like a good Junior play to boost camp morale.
After a day of playing outside in the silver sunshine it was nice to cozy up in the Rustic Lounge to watch the juniors perform Beauty and the Beast tonight.
The sets were spectacular – the entire stage surrounded by vines and fairy lights, and a rose in a giant bell jar. The costumes were divine (kids transformed into adorable plates, cutlery, cups, teapots, and candelabras). But the best part was the incredible acting, singing, and team spirit on the stage. It was clear how much work the Juniors and Jinters put into preparing for the show, and especially inspiring to see how they overcame their nerves and felt so proud of themselves afterward. It was evident by the earsplitting applause that the whole camp loved it as much as I did.
Everyone was excited about our sleep-in and Sunday brunch this morning (a special treat for our new campers who had never experienced our extravaganza of pastries, bagels and smoked salmon, tropical fruit, and eggs to order), and the rain didn’t stop over 50 campers from doing distance swims during our morning super general.
Lunch and dinner were exciting too, with multiple campers being carried into the dining hall on instructors’ shoulders, receiving standing ovations from the whole camp for achieving high class awards.
With our 2 and 6 week sessions drawing to a close, it feels like everyone is trying to soak up the most of the camp experience they can, with fun, friends, and activity ambition.
