The Main Lodge was especially exciting tonight as our oldest and youngest campers came together for Junior/Senior Night! Each Junior Grasshopper and Dragonfly was paired with a Senior Moose or Bear, and the pairs arrived at dinner decked out in matching costumes and outfits. Dinner was full of laughter and very enthusiastic sectional cheers, with the Juniors proudly joining in alongside the older campers they look up to so much.
After dinner, the Dragonflies and Bears took to the stage for a Junior/Senior talent show, while the Grasshoppers and Moose played Phobias, working together to uncover the staff’s “fears” and figure out how to help overcome them. Between the two, there was no shortage of laughter, teamwork, and bonding.
The best part of the night was watching how nurturing and engaged the Moose and Bears were with their Juniors. They made sure their partners felt empowered and supported, and did whatever it took to make the night fun. At the end of the evening the Seniors walked their buddies back to their cabins and helped put them to bed. Everyone’s rose of the day at cabin circle was getting to hang out with their buddies.
Many of tonight’s Seniors were once the Juniors looking up to an older camper on their own Junior/Senior nights 7 years ago. Watching them step into that role with so much patience and confidence was a special reminder of how much campers grow during their years at Arowhon, and how the cycle of mentoring, nurturing, and growth continues with each generation.
