Great Moments at Camp

While campers will have great memories of epic circus days and amazing camp plays, what really keeps them coming back is how camp makes them feel. And that comes from the little moments every day. The counsellor who notices them looking down and asks what’s up. The camaraderie of whispering with friends after lights out. The pride of their section cheering when they get an award. The silliness of dress up nights.

Here are a few of those moments I witnessed today:

  1. The Curve girls running to get the nature instructor and spending rest hour rescuing a precarious nest of baby birds (how cool for teenage girls to be engaged in this over TikTok).
  2. Juniors hosting a wedding for their counsellor to their favourite instructor, featuring a prom dress from the costume closet and homemade invitations.
  3. The Point finally deciding to clean their section so they can move up in the cabin clean up competition and earn tuck.
  4. A senior giving a junior their fudgesicle after the junior dropped theirs at cookout tonight.
  5. Five of our most popular 19 year old guys hosting tonight’s full camp campfire wearing wigs and acting as the Family Guy characters (sounds silly, but what better way than to show adolescent boys that it’s ok to let loose and be goofy).
