A Whirlwind of a Week at Planet Arowhon

The past few days have been so full of fun we didn’t even have time to stop to blog about it until now! The energy around camp has been off the charts, and we’ve packed in so many special moments and events that perfectly capture the spirit of camp.

Carnival Day was a highlight of the week — the sports field was turned into a giant fairground filled with laughter and spirit. Campers bounced their way through inflatable castles and obstacle courses, lined up for the ice plunge challenge, cheered their staff on in pie eating competitions, and indulged in classic carnival treats like popcorn, cotton candy, and sno-cones. The day was capped off with an incredible dance hosted by the Arowhon Crew (a team of dance enthusiasts at camp who prepared a contagious playlist and choreographed dances that we couldn’t help following along with). Campers stampeded to get their hands on the custom camp merch that was thrown into the crowd throughout (and my heart was filled to see many older campers giving theirs to younger ones who were disappointed not to have gotten their own).

The excitement didn’t stop there. Yesterday about 30 of our campers paddled to Camp Tamakwa for an inter-camp activity tournament, where we’re proud to share that our  campers gave their all and won almost every event! Whether on boats, courts, walls, or ranges, the teamwork and camp spirit on display were nothing short of inspiring, and a true testament to the culture of skill building at Arowhon.

Then came Super Silly Sunday, starting with a camp-wide sleep-in, followed by a decadent brunch buffet with all the fixings (bagels and smoked salmon, chocolate croissants, tropical fruit, and eggs to order). After that came Super General where kids could float freely between a host of goofy creative activities (Like “Boga” – yoga in the bog, paddle board dodgeball, gunnel bobbing at canoeing and so much more) and distance swims, where our most ambitious campers challenged themselves to swim a 1/4, 1/2, or full mile across the lake. The full mile swimmers were rewarded with ice cream from our new soft serve shop to validate their dedication to challenging themselves.

We capped off an already great day with an out-of-this world production of The Lion King for the Junior Play. It was truly an incredible experience to see all the hard work the Juniors and Jinters have been putting in all session — singing, dancing, and building sets — come to life with a polished, heartwarming, impressively talented, and funny show. It’s always incredible to watch our youngest campers shine in front of the entire camp community.

As I reflect on these past few days, I’m reminded of how much joy, confidence, and connection come from these shared experiences. Whether it’s the adrenaline of competition, the silliness of a Sunday morning, or the magic of camp theatre, every moment here shapes memories that last a lifetime.

Here’s to more summer magic,
