Today was full of so many wonderful camp moments that made me proud of and grateful for the incredible place we have created here.
An incredibly driven 1o year old boy who has been working all summer and achieved the unlikely feat of his seconds in archery (basically unheard of at that age). The instructors bursting with pride doing their speech about him in the Main Lodge, and half the camp running up to hug and congratulate him.
A super cool night time break skit for Carnival Day tomorrow, featuring our high class kayakers doing incredible tricks in boats covered in glowsticks with a background of disco music and pyrotechnics.
A 19 year old guy tearing up (and being comforted and encouraged by his peers) while doing his 10 year jacket speech about how he has found his confidence and identity at camp. What incredible role modelling of openness and vulnerability for all the boys at camp.
The Salamanders and Tadpoles getting back from their trips looking strong and proud and bragging about carrying the food barrel on the longest portage.
An 11 year old girl with autism doing a solo at the full camp campfire and getting a standing ovation.
The Points and Curves breaking into a spontaneous singalong around a campfire tonight, swaying with arms around each other as a united group.
The Owls cabin “breaking in” to the ice cream shop at 10pm.
These are the moments that make up the Arowhon fabric, which really isn’t magic at all but a carefully orchestrated show by our incredibly dedicated staff.
