After a rainy tour day (where campers embraced the silver sunshine, had a blast running around camp and meeting all the instructors, and of course enjoyed hot cocoa after their swim tests), the first days of activities have been picture perfect. Blue skies, gentle breezes, shining sun, and smiles all around as campers play and learn around camp.
The lake is full of colourful boats, campers ride horses along wilderness trails, practice for the upcoming Junior musical (Tangled), climb to the top of the climbing wall, and fly down the zipline.
The first third class awards were announced at lunch, with a slew of campers achieving their thirds in field sports. One of the best traditions at camp is the section cheers that erupt whenever someone gets an award – it’s heartwarming how proud our campers are to celebrate each others’ achievements.
The Grasshoppers were treated to an epic pirate adventure led by the Evening Activity Committee tonight, and the whole Salamanders section went mega-SUPping after dinner.
The first days have been a dream, and planet Arowhon is feeling like a family already.
From the early morning chants of Seniors training for Brent and Whitney push trips to the haunting call of a loon after dark, our days are full of the sounds of a happy camp.
