Andre Amiro – Tripping Director
From the stormy shores of Nova Scotia to the sun-kissed mountain of Vancouver Island, André has spent the last 15 years working with summer camps, outdoor centres and youth-serving organizations to share his passion for outdoor exploration with children and young adults. Back for his 8th summer as a staff member at Arowhon, André has previously been Head Climbing Instructor, Program Director, Head Tripper and now Tripping Director, in addition to spending 4 years working with the Arowhon Outdoor Centre and ALIVE Outdoors. André lives in Nova Scotia where he has been working as a facilitator, program designer, and provincial outreach coordinator for the Heartwood Centre for Community Youth Development’s Leaders of Today program, but is looking forward to moving to Toronto in the fall to take up full time work at the Arowhon office! André spends as much of his spare time as possible outside; he is an avid backcountry explorer, whether it be by foot or by boat (canoe, kayak, sail or board), an experienced rock climber, and dabbles in backcountry telemark skiing, cross-country mountain biking, surfing, baking and woodworking.
