Emily Obal
Emily Obal

Emily is returning to Arowhon for her 15th summer, and her 8th summer as a staff member. Currently, Emily lives in Kingston and studies geology at Queen’s University. While at Queen’s, Emily is involved in the Queen’s Climbing club and has been the club president twice, planning activities and information sessions for members as well as large scale trips within Canada and the US. Emily has previously been a counsellor, an archery instructor, head climb, head nature, and head trip! When she isn’t busy looking at rocks under microscopes, Emily spends most of her free time enjoying nature. She is most commonly found in forested areas looking for her next great camping adventure. Emily is so excited to be part of the Arowhon management team and is looking forward to seeing faces (both familiar and new) at camp for summer 2017!

Christie lives in Toronto, and works full time at Basecamp Climbing, and as a part time swimming and lifesaving instructor at the RCYC. Additionally, she works part-time throughout the year with ALIVE Outdoors and Adventureworks, bringing students outside. Christie volunteers with BOOST Child & Youth Advocacy Centre at fundraising events and volunteers annually as a facilitator at SMILE camp through the TDSB and Toronto Police. Last summer she volunteered for a week guiding a blind woman on a hiking, kayaking and SUP adventure in Wawa, ON. This will be Christies 3rd summer at Arowhon; she was Head Ride in 2010 and 2012, and has worked a number of seasons with the Arowhon Outdoor Centre. This year Christie has travelled to Australia, New Zealand and Iceland before finding herself in Algonquin Park for the summer, and looks forward to another fantastic summer on Teepee Lake!
