Josh has recently arrived from South Africa and can’t wait to start his first summer at Arowhon. He studies finance at Western and plays on the rugby team. Josh went to boarding school in South Africa where he played rugby and rowed competitively as well as ran the Social Sustainability forum which focused on correcting racial inequality at the school. In his spare time he enjoys to play guitar, hike and read.
Jenny is from England and is in her third year studying Medicine at the University of Leeds. This is first summer at Camp Arowhon, but she has taken part in various camps in the UK. She has volunteered in a hospital and hospice, where she worked with people of all ages and now has a job as a nursing assistant in a care home. Last summer she also volunteered in Ghana, focusing on providing medical care to local children. In her free time she loves to cycle, and even completed a charity bike ride from the UK to the Czech Republic last year! She has also completed hiking challenges and loves to play the violin, sing and act through taking part in her university’s musical. After completing three more years of university, Jenny will graduate as a doctor and hopes to specialise in paediatrics or surgery. Jenny is really looking forward to camp, especially working with all of the campers and staff and taking part in all of the amazing activities!
Lewis is from Hamburg, Germany and has been here in Canada with an IEC holiday visa. It is his first year as a counsellor at Arowhon, but he is familiar with overnight camping, as he has been a camper at other camps. While in high school he was a member of the school council and completed two internships at an elementary school. Outside of school, Lewis follows a lot of different sports, particularly soccer and boxing. He attends many games of his favourite club, Hamburger SV. Aside from sports, Lewis is also enthusiastic about travel. He has traveled throughout Europe and has been in Beijing, China for three weeks. Lewis is a very good listener, trustworthy person and is someone who adapts to his environment easily. He is very excited about camp Arowhon and is looking forward to beginning his new role as a counsellor.
Leah lives in Toronto and attends Havergal College. She completed the LIT program last summer and is so excited to start her first summer as staff. This will be Leah’s 8th year at Arowhon. In her free time she loves photography and working with with children. Leah is an active member of her school community and teaches skiing in the winter!

Max is from the UK and is studying product design engineering at Loughborough University. Max is new to Arowhon but has worked with young people as a mentor in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, teaching tennis, orienteering and leading outdoor camping expeditions. He has also life guarded at a local swimming pool! He participated in a trekking expedition at the Everest base camp in Nepal and at Mt. Kinabulu in Borneo!
Hana is from Toronto and this will be her first year on staff and her 9th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last year! Outside of camp Hana loves rock climbing, reading, and taking photos. This past year she worked as a rock climbing instructor for kids and was a member of her school’s leadership program!
Adam is from Toronto. After being an LIT last summer and a camper the 9 years before that, he is very excited to be a staff member after so many amazing summers. At camp, Adam loves to windsurf and be out on the lake. During the year he plays hockey and baseball and likes sciences and math in school!
John is from Wicklow in Ireland. This will be his first time attending Arowhon as a counsellor. He has just graduated from University College Dublin with a degree in history and geography. He is very excited to spend his summer meeting plenty of new faces, trying new things and enjoying the outdoors
Maria Ferrer Roure
Maria is from Girona (Spain) and she’s currently studying Dental Hygiene in Francesc Pejoan College in Barcelona. This will be her second year as a counsellor, in summer 2017 she was a counsellor in a summer camp for underprivileged girls in Long Island, New York. She was also a camper for 9 years at a summer camp in Girona where her mum was the director. When growing up Maria was a competitive swimmer and also played at her school’s basketball team!
Sally is from Dublin and goes to school at Dun Laoghaire where she studies set design for theatre and film. She worked as a painting instructor at a summer camp in Massachusetts last year, and is excited to experience Canada! She loves drawing, painting, and photography. Something fun about her is that she likes to regularly change her hair colour!
Dalia lives in Toronto. She completed the LIT program last summer and is thrilled to come back as a First-Year counsellor. This will be Dalia’s 10th summer at Arowhon. In her free time she loves dancing and anything that involves being creative. Dalia loves working with children and has volunteered in classrooms across Toronto as well as in Costa Rica. She is positive, outgoing, and overjoyed to be joining the Arowhon staff team of 2019!
Caroline is from Toronto and this summer will be her first year as a counsellor at Arowhon but she is not unfamiliar to the overnight camp scene, as she has been a camper, an LIT and a volunteer at other camps. Outside of camp, Caroline plays field hockey, softball, and swims. She is also the president of her schools community outreach organization, and a board member on the toronto catholic district school board’s student mental health association. Caroline looks forward to making camp a memorable, fun filled, and happy place for everyone.
Ester attends the University of Westminster and studies politics and international relations. This will be her first time coming to Arowhon as a counsellor! She has experience working with children as she has volunteered at a sunday school for six months, babysits, and while doing her A-levels studied childcare and did a two-year placement in a primary school. We are excited for her to share her knowledge with us!
Ben is from Pennsylvania and this summer will be his first year as a junior counsellor at Camp Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. This will be Ben’s sixth summer at Camp Arowhon and is a second generation camper. Outside of camp, Ben is a competitive Swimmer and Diver and is an active member of an organization bringing awareness to mental health at his school. Ben has experience working with special needs children to improve their hockey skills, and teaching swim lessons to young children. We are enthusiastic about him joining our staff team this summer!
Leo is from Toronto and this will be his 8th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program last year. Leo enjoys playing tennis, sailing, canoeing, and basketball at camp. Outside of camp, Leo plays basketball, baseball, and tennis in which he has both taught and refereed.
Jen is from Toronto and is excited for her first year on staff as a Junior counsellor after completing the LIT program last year. When she’s not at camp, Jen enjoys skiing, swimming, and playing basketball. Jen has always loved camp, and has spent the last 8 summers as a camper at Arowhon.
Molly was born in Toronto, but has lived in Melbourne, Australia since the age of six. She recently completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, double majoring in Australian indigenous studies as well as history and the philosophy of science. Molly has been a camper at an Australian youth movement camp for 10 years, a CIT for one and two years as a Junior counsellor. With her experience, Molly is no stranger to camp!!
Maddy is from Sudbury and is studying at Laurentian University in the concurrent education program. She is really excited to be coming to Arowhon as a counsellor for the first time this summer! Maddy has a love for animals that pairs well with a part-time job at PetSmart. She also participates in several annual fundraisers including the “Kids Caring for Kids” Cancer Drive. Maddy enjoys spending summers hiking, swimming, kayaking, camping and reading in the great outdoors!
Cooper is from Mississauga. This summer will be his 1st year as a Junior counsellor at Camp Arowhon after completing the LIT program last summer. Cooper was a camper for 7 summers and is excited for his 8th at Arowhon! Outside of camp, he enjoys cross country running, track, and ski racing. He also coaches 9-year-old ski racers at Caledon Ski Club. In school, Cooper is interested in business and math, and is on Student Council and DECA. He is an energetic and lively guy who loves to have fun!
Joel is from Bristol, and studies computer science at the University of Bristol. At school Joel has run an extracurricular club to help teach card games such as Whist and Bridge to all years, and has helped disadvantaged students take their first steps exploring the world of fiction through a reading buddy programme. Joel has also been a keen member of his school’s Amnesty International Club, which he found really rewarding.
Riley is from Toronto. She is very excited to be coming back to camp this summer as a First Year counsellor. Riley completed the Camp Arowhon LIT program last summer, and had a great experience as a camper at Arowhon for the previous six summers. When Riley is not at school or camp, she loves music, plays piano, enjoys reading, crosswords, and sudoku puzzles. Riley is an active volunteer at both Dunloe Children’s Centre and with Colon Cancer Canada. Riley is incredibly hard working and dedicated.
Stevey is from Toronto and this summer will be her 9th summer going to camp and 1st summer as a counsellor after completing the LIT program in 2018! Stevey loves skiing, dancing, softball, travelling and hanging out with her friends. She also is a Choreographer in Northern’s annual United Way Dance Fashion Show.
Originally from Germany, Anna has studied in Ireland and Scotland for the past five years, completing a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in international HR management. While this will be her first summer at Camp Arowhon, she has been a camp counsellor with a charity in Berlin since 2015. Her job was to ensure that teenagers in the foster care system get to experience the magic of summer camps too. Anna enjoys they gym, horse riding, practising yoga, and travelling.
Adam is from Michigan and this will be his 8th year at camp, but 1st on staff! As a student-athlete, Adam runs cross-country and track and competes in indoor track as a member of a statewide running club. In addition to running, Adam is a musician in the Seaholm Symphony Orchestra where he plays the violin. Adam’s favorite hobbies are running, watching football, cycling, weight lifting, snow skiing, and spending time with friends.
Deanna is no stranger to camp as this will be her 8th year, and her first year on staff after completing the LIT program in 2018! Outside of camp Deanna works part-time at a bakery and regularly volunteers at a local retirement home. She loves swimming, horseback riding and spending time with her family. She is also an active member of her high school swim team and a member of student council.
Nora lives in Ithaca, New York, and this will be her tenth summer at Camp Arowhon after being a camper for eight years and completing the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp, Nora plays on a competitive hockey team and loves to design and sew clothes. In her free time, she interns in the costume and textiles collection at Cornell University. Nora has also been a member of Ithaca High School’s Supporting Women Impacting Society club. Having grown up on a lake and surrounded by waterfalls in Ithaca, Nora loves the outdoors and spending time on the water and can’t wait to do it more this summer
This year will be Maya’s 10th summer at Camp Arowhon. She lives in Toronto and in Maya’s past 9 years at Arowhon, she has loved bonding with staff and campers and experimenting with all the different activities. This year will be her first year as a Junior Counselor. Outside of camp, Maya is part of her school’s business council and leads younger students on overnight bonding trips. She also teaches dance classes to young children every week and absolutely loves it!
This summer will be Mitchell’s his first year on staff at Arowhon as a Junior Counsellor. Last summer, Mitchell was an LIT at camp Arowhon and this coming summer will be his 8th summer at camp. During the school year, Mitchell plays hockey and baseball. He represents his school at ski races every weekend during the winter. Mitchell takes part in the robotics club, in the school band, and volunteers on tuesday nights at Out of the Cold.
Alex is from Cincinnati, Ohio and this summer will be her 9th summer at camp, but first on staff after completing the LIT program last summer. Outside of camp, Alex plays volleyball both for her high school varsity team and for her club team, which she is the captain of. Alex also participates in the Relay For Life committee and Project Lead, a school club aimed at high school partnership with the community. Outside of school, Alex volunteers at the Over the Rhine soup kitchen in downtown Cincinnati. Alex is thrilled to be back for her first year on staff and can’t wait to have an incredible summer.
This summer will be Carly’s 1st year on staff and her 8th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program this past summer. This past year Carly completed a Co-op program in a kindergarten classroom where she got to teach young children. In her spare time she loves swimming and dancing with friends. Last year, Carly volunteered with children and painted a school in Costa Rica. Carly loves to have fun, and is approachable as well as outgoing.
Isla is from Scotland and studies at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow for a degree in primary education. This is her first year at Camp Arowhon but definitely not her first time working with children. As part of her University course she works in a Primary School working with kids aged 6-7. Isla also volunteers at numerous youth groups and has helped lead lots of short outdoor summer camps for young people. One of her biggest passions is theater so she can’t wait to get involved in the drama program at camp!
Oren is born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He is pursuing a career in the sciences at Marianopolis Pre University (Cegep). After finishing the past LIT summer, Oren will be returning to Camp Arowhon for his 8th summer as a First-Year Counsellor. Oren and a team of students contribute to injury prevention programs for teenagers. Oren is also involved in several competitive extracurricular sports teams including hockey, soccer and football. Oren is an extremely charismatic and kind person who enjoys meeting new people.
Alena is from Switzerland and is attending University in Lucerne to become a teacher. This summer will be her first year as a counsellor at Camp Arowhon. She gained a lot of experience in working with children in her work as a YWCA counsellor. Alena also developed this knowledge of youth work through an internship she recently did in a primary class. Alena loves to be active, such as playing basketball, swimming and hiking.
Richard is from Colchester, England. He is currently attending The Sixth Form College Colchester where he studies sociology, history, politics and English as part of his A-Levels. This will be Richie’s first year in Canada but has traveled to various european countries. He helped run the Year 3 and 4 school football club when he was in his final year of Secondary School. Also, he volunteered to rejuvenate a retirement home’s dilapidated garden, where he restored it to its former glory.
Jeremy is a student from Melbourne, Australia. He is studying a Bachelor of commerce at the University of Melbourne. During High School he spent time volunteering in a remote village in Northern Laos teaching English to local Children. It was here that he discovered his passion for working with kids. Following this, he spent several years teaching tennis to children back in Australia. In his spare time Jeremy devotes himself to fitness participating in boxing, tennis, and basketball regularly. With this being Jeremy’s first experience as a Summer Camp Counselor, he is excited for the opportunity to be working with children once again.
Laura is from Denmark and graduated from the Danish Gymnasium last summer. Since then, she has worked at different animal rescue centers, and is now working for her family owned inn. In the future she hopes to become a vet. In her free time she travels, and has been all over Europe, to Africa, and to the U.S., but this will be her first time in Canada, and she is super excited about it!
Jack was born in Hong Kong, after which moved to Victoria BC Canada, and finally settled in Hawaii. This will be his 10th overall summer at camp. He’s an avid tennis player on his school’s varsity team. His favorite camp moments include going on the 15-day whitewater trip when he was a Point Small, being with friends, and color war of course. Jack is looking forward to spending time with his campers this summer.
Miren Agirregomezkorta Iza
Miren is a University of Navarre student studying both Spanish philosophy and journalism, who hails from Basque Country in Spain. She has grown up going to Spanish summer camps as a child, and knew even then that when she grew up she would go back as a counsellor. Last summer, Miren completed a course to obtain the official diploma for being a camp counselor from the Spanish government. She has worked at a summer camp, in a nursery taking care of toddlers, and as a teacher for a teenager with learning difficulties. She also loves singing in choirs, dancing traditional Basque dances, traveling, and discovering new cultures.
Emer is joining us all the way from Dublin, Ireland. She’s an international relations major at Dublin City University. Emer has a passion for working with kids, and coaches many traditional Irish sports such as Camogie and Gaelic football. In 2017 she volunteered in a Romanian Orphanage where she taught children English and assisted them in play and development.
Kassie is in the final leg of finishing her undergrad at Western University and hopes to continue her education in speech language pathology. She is from Whitby, Ontario and is excited to leave her small town to have her very first overnight camp experience. Before Arowhon, Kassie was an Arts and Crafts Camp programmer and a volunteer Leadership Camp counsellor. She has also taught drop-in French and Drama classes at the Lifetime Kids Academy. At school, Kassie plays volleyball and waterpolo, and has recently run her first Multiple Sclerosis charity initiative! Additionally, her experience volunteering in the university bridge program at Western has greatly prepared her to help campers handle the jitters that come from being away from home.
Amaia is a biological/biomedical sciences university student from Ireland. For the past two years, she has worked as a sports and activities coordinator in Ireland for Spanish students visiting the country. It will be her first year at Camp Arowhon but she has been a camper at many different camps throughout her childhood. In her spare time, she enjoys kayaking and climbing, as well as water polo with anyone who’s brave enough.
Diana has been living in Europe for almost 7 years, and has most recently studied music industry management at university in the U.K. She is moving to Canada this fall however, for a year abroad in Vancouver. Diana has worked at camps internationally as well as in voluntary positions such as; a volleyball coach, a gardening teacher, and a tutor. She herself has played professional biathlon and volleyball. Diana loves working with and being a role model for kids, so she is extremely excited to become a part of the Arowhon family this summer and bring in her experience to the camp.
Hayley Sellars is from Sydney, Australia. It will be her first year at Camp Arowhon, where she will be joining our counsellor team. Outside of camp, she not only has certifications in childcare, but has worked in the industry for multiple years. Seeing as she enjoys working with kids, coupled with her love to travel, she’s very excited to come to Canada and visit the place so many call home.
Duncan is a University of Strathclyde (Glasgow) psychology student, originally from the small town of Forres in Northern Scotland. This summer will be his first on lake Tepee, although he did spend last summer at Camp Couchiching as a counsellor. He loves outdoor activities such as kayaking, swimming, canoeing, climbing, and hiking. He’s the secretary for his university kayaking club and was in charge of the club’s team for canoe polo. Duncan has a background working with children through serving as club captain for his home swimming club and volunteering at after-school clubs in primary schools. Duncan can’t wait to come back to Canada and immerse himself into Camp Arowhon living.
Kirsten is from Ayrshire, Scotland. She is in the midst of her 3rd Year at the University of Dundee, where she is studying medicine. Kirsten has been involved with Girl Guides for 15 years. She is president of her university’s branch of Girl Guides, as well as a local unit leader. After graduation, she hopes to become a general practitioner in rural medicine. In her spare time, Kirsten enjoy numerous sports, particularly hockey and volleyball, and was captain of her University Shinty Team.
Mathew is from Australia where he has just finished studying a masters in Medical Physics. Outside of his studies, Mathew works at the University of Queensland teaching and sharing his love of physics and mathematics with first-year university students. This will be Mathew’s first summer at Arowhon, but he previously worked with the Walt Disney Company. In addition, he volunteers with Radio Lollipop where he provides care, comfort, play, and entertainment for sick children in the hospital.
Alba Carbajo is an architecture student, from Spain. This will be her first time in Canada, and is looking forward to the adventures to come! Alba has experience volunteering for youth living with disabilities, as a counsellor for school day trips, and at a nature focused summer camp. In her free time she loves to surf and practice yoga.
Harley is from Toronto and is attending Queen’s University for a degree in engineering. This summer will be his 2nd year as a Junior Boys counsellor at Camp Arowhon. It will be Harley’s 11th year at Camp after receiving his 10-year jacket last year! Camp has shown Harley the joys of indoor climbing to such a degree that it is now a hobby of his outside of school. Over the winter months, Harley keeps himself busy as a ski coach, teaching kids aged 6-7!
Tali is from Toronto and is going to be returning to camp for her 10th summer! She recently finished spending a year in Neuchatel, Switzerland. Tali is studying sciences at university. At camp, Tali loves to swim, go on canoe trip and campfires. She can’t wait to return for her second year on staff and for all the adventures to come!
Jack is excited to return for another year at camp! This will be his 12th year at camp, and his 2nd on staff. Outside of his camp career, he attends Northern Secondary School in Toronto and loves to involve himself in a variety of different extracurriculars there. In 2016, Jack started the Mentors program at Northern, an organization which travels to local elementary and middle schools to educate students about mental health. As well, Jack was elected to his school’s student council and enjoys spending time helping the community. Having finished high school, Jack is pursuing an education and career in pure mathematics!
Avi is beyond excited to be back at camp — her home away from home — for her 9th summer at camp and her 1st year as a staff member, after completing the LIT program last summer. During the year Avi is in grade 11 at University of Toronto Schools in downtown Toronto. At school Avi loves to participate in school activities and, among other things, she choreographs for her school show, helps organize student outreach and runs her schools Best Buddies chapter (an organization that aims to build friendships between people with and without intellectual disabilities)! Avi really believes in the power of camp and cherishes the memories of her last 8 summers. She absolutely cannot wait to experience all the fun and amazing moments that are set to happen this summer!
Bailey is extremely excited approaching her 9th year at camp and 1st year as a counsellor. After completing the LIT program last summer, she cannot wait to return back to Arowhon, her home away from home. Bailey is from Toronto and is in grade 11 at Havergal College. At school, Bailey is involved in the Big Sister Little Sister program, and Haverpals both connecting older students and younger students within the school. Outside of school, she enjoys doing gymnastics, travelling, and spending time with friends. She is thrilled to create many fun memories with campers this upcoming summer, and we are excited to have her as part of our staff team!
Matthew has been enjoying his summers at Camp Arowhon since 2010. He goes to Harbord Collegiate Institute, and will be spending his 2nd year on staff at Arowhon after being a counselor last summer and finishing the LIT program the summer prior to that. Outside of camp Matthew loves to play sports, mostly hockey and skiing. After spending years ski racing, he now coaches a ski team of 8-year-old boys and girls. Matthew also loves to travel with his family; he has done some cool trips in the South of France and in Africa.
This summer will be Mackenzie’s 1st year on staff and her 8th summer at Arowhon after completing the LIT program this past summer. She attends Havergal College in Toronto. Mackenzie has worked as a referee for young girls at North Toronto basketball league for the past three years. Outside of camp, she plays hockey and basketball and is a member of the community council which serves as a platform for community outreach at her school. Last school year, Mackenzie travelled to South Africa on exchange and she is excited to share her experiences with her campers this summer. Mackenzie is enthused to get back to camp and create memories with her campers!

Adam is from Toronto and will be spending his 10th summer at camp this year. It is his second on staff as a counsellor after completing Arowhon’s LIT program. Outside of camp, he is a committed student and leads his school’s environmental team and architecture club. Adam also babysits often, and helps out neighbours in his community. In the future he plans to pursue a career in the architecture field, and hopes to focus on projects which will benefit struggling communities. We’re thrilled that Adam will be back at camp for the 2019 season!
Gil is from Toronto, and is currently attending North Toronto Collegiate Institute. This will be Gils 8th summer at Camp Arowhon but his 1st summer on staff. Last year Gil completed the LIT program where he showed off his kind nature and his ability to work with children of all ages. Outside of camp Gil also tends to keep himself busy with a wealth of extracurricular activities. Some of those activities include playing on the school basketball and curling team as well as participating in the North Toronto marching and symphonic band. Outside of school Gil refs house league basketball and coaches football. Gil is a fun and hard working person who is always ready to give out a helping hand. We are so excited to have him join our staff community!
Noah is from Toronto and can’t wait to go back to Arowhon for his 9th summer and his 2nd year on staff. During the year, Noah enjoys playing hockey and tennis, as well as volunteering at Out of the Cold which is a program that provides homeless people with shelter, food, and warm clothes during the winter months. He also works as a timekeeper at his local hockey rink and participates in many clubs at school, such as DECA and Model UN. Noah is looking forward to another amazing summer at Camp Arowhon.
Kobi is from Toronto and has just completed grade 11 at North Toronto Collegiate Institute. Kobi is very excited to return to camp this summer after completing the LIT program last year. It is Kobi’s 1st year on staff but he was a camper for 7 years. As a camper Kobi spent most of his time in the water at the surf and swim dock. Outside of camp Kobi plays basketball and is part of his school’s athletic association. He also has coached football and refereed basketball for numerous years. Kobi loves camp and is just as excited as we are to have him on staff this summer!
Jake is celebrating his 4th year at Arowhon this upcoming summer. Jake is from Thornhill and is studying at Wilfrid Laurier University in communication studies and anthropology. Jake was briefly a camper at Arowhon including being an LIT and was a First-Year Counsellor last summer with the Senior Boys section. Jake enjoys playing hockey and baseball in his free time as well as off-road biking with his friends. Jake has been going to camp his whole life and wants every camper to have the same amazing experience he did throughout those years!
Hannah is from Toronto and is in grade 11 at Branksome Hall. This upcoming summer, Hannah will be a junior counsellor for her 1st year at Camp Arowhon after being a part of the LIT program last summer, and a camper for 8 years prior. Outside of camp Hannah works at Premier Skating Schools, and enjoys her passion for visual arts and hockey. Hannah is the editor of her school’s newspaper ‘The Kilt Press’, and was the captain of her hockey team this past year. Hannah is both outgoing and caring, and is very hard working, as well. Hannah is extremely excited to be a part of the staff team this summer.
This summer will be Adriennes 2nd year on staff and 10th summer at Arowhon. Adrienne loves to play sports especially field hockey, ice hockey, and softball. She is also on her school’s Model UN team and is part of the PALS program where she helps younger students develop important learning strategies. Adrienne loves to be outdoors and is looking forward to camp this summer.
Malcolm is celebrating his 11th summer at Arowhon. He’s from Toronto and attends Sir Wilfrid Laurier University. This upcoming summer will be Malcolm’s 3rd year on staff after being a counsellor in the Inter Boys section for the past two years and having worked as an Archery specialist. Before coming to staff with us, Malcolm was a camper for 7 years, as well as an LIT. Malcolm keeps himself busy outside of school by being a swimming instructor as well as playing hockey and basketball.
Oliver is excited to be returning to Arowhon for his 12th summer, and can’t wait to share his love of camp with others as a counsellor again. Oliver attends McGill where he is studying computer science, and is a member of the McGill Students for Right To Play’s executive council as a first-year representative. Having completed two years on staff in the Senior Boys section, Oliver can’t wait to be back on Lake Tepee for another amazing summer.
