With tour day behind us, we’ve jumped full swing into the momentum of camp and with the wonderful weather it feels exactly how summer camp should: full of laughter, growth, trying new things, friendships new and old, and fun in the sun.
The Junior Play was announced yesterday with a rambunctious skit and everyone who auditioned for School of Rock got a part (we can’t wait to see those juniors moving and grooving like ‘Jagger).
A 14 year old boy was carried into the Main Lodge to a standing ovation for getting his seconds in riding.
The Moose, Owls, and Loons are getting ready to head out on canoe trips, and the Brent, Whitney, and Arowhon A kids are up at the crack of dawn training their minds and bodies for the challenges they have taken upon themselves.
I was invited to lead a sunrise yoga class on a dock with the Curves, and as I reluctantly rolled out of bed at 6:30, I marvelled at the energy and ambition of these kids whom parents tell me spend their days at home in their rooms staring at electronic devices. I guess camp really does bring out the best in people.
