‘This Arowhon Life’ Episode #1 – Collaborative Problem Solving

Episode 1 – Collaborative Problem Solving

We’re excited to bring you the very first episode of the BRAND NEW Camp Arowhon pod-cast. Each week, we’re going to bring you a story about Camp Arowhon – the people, the place, the culture – to help us feel connected, inspired, and supported in this time of uncertainty and upheaval. We’re going to experiment with a variety of topics, content and ideas, to remind ourselves of the culture of caring, learning and respect that makes Arowhon unique in this crazy world.

In this episode, we’ll hear from Joanne Kates, our beloved Camp Director. Joanne is an expert in guiding kids and young adults through difficult times. This week, she’ll share her insights with us about the challenges of supporting our kids through social and physical distancing. She’ll address the effects of ‘techno-overload’, ‘nature deficit’ and ‘social isolation’ on sibling – and parent – relationships, and what we can do as parents to best support our kids is staying safe, healthy and happy(ish) during COVID-19. She’ll share tips and techniques she’s used as a parent and camp director for over 30 years to bring out the best in children, including Arowhon’s tried and true methods for Collaborative Problem Solving (C.P.S)
