Today has been an incredible display of Camp Arowhon sprit; despite the sometimes torrential rain – the bridge by the office is underwater! – the first day of regular activities went off without a hitch!
The silver sunshine didn’t dampen the spirits of enthusiastic canoeists, sailors or kayakers, and the puddle jumpers were in full force dancing and singing through the storm in front of the ML to the tune of ‘Don’t Stop Believing’.
Canada Day kicked off with a beautiful acknowledgement of our shared, and sometimes complicated, national history, giving thanks to the First Nations upon whose lands Arowhon stands, and who cultivated and protected this land long before Lily Kates ever plied these waters.
The Junior play ‘Alice in Wonderland’ was unveiled in spectacular style by Sine and Kaitlyn Drama, to the live piano accompaniment of Sam Guitar. A choreographed chorus line of colourfully costumed staff invited the junior sections to audition, and there was an astonishing display of talent all day in the Rustic Lounge.
We’re sure tomorrow will be another amazing day of activities, skits, songs and smiles, and can’t wait for it to begin.
And don’t worry – the forecast is set to dry up soon!
