It’s hard to believe that it’s already time for the end-of-month banquet that everyone’s been waiting for: Cotillion! The Senior Girls have been working all month long to make beautiful decorations to transform the ML into a medieval castle. When we entered dinner tonight, we were greeted by banners, shields, paper crowns, and royal scrolls with each camper and staff’s name on them telling us which of the decadently-set, blue velvet-draped tables to sit at. Campers and staff were dressed to the nines, but some standout costumes were the section staff, each of whom picked a hilarious theme. Our favourites were the Inter Girls staff who went as different types of mom (soccer mom, dance mom, helicopter mom, etc.) led by Section Head “Grandma Emily”, the Senior Girls staff who sported stockings on their heads as famous bald men (ranging from Seth Godin to Voldemort), and the Inter Boys staff who dressed as a pack of wolves and pulled Ruben in on a kayak chariot howling at the top of their lungs.
After the Cotillion feast, with bellies full of sushi, steak, curly fries, and chocolate-covered strawberries, we headed up to Rustic Lounge where we were treated to the building’s namesake show. Written by the Senior Girls staff and performed by the ever-talented Senior Girls, the play was a banger! It had us rolling off our seats with laughter as it poked good clean fun at camp staff’s quirks and antics. The night was capped off with a dance and campfire, and it is with mixed feelings that we look forward to our last day of first month programming tomorrow, and especially the Inter Senior play Annie! It’s been such an incredible month here and we don’t want it to ever end… but we know the old adage: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” so that’s exactly what we’re doing right now until the last sweet moment!
