Carnival Day

Was warm and sunny and SO much fun… The huge inflatables are of course the biggest hits.  We bounced on the huge bouncy thing, slid down the mammoth inflatable slides and ran throughout the bouncy castle. Carnival games were fun… Churros, cotton candy, hotdogs on the fire and Sno-Cones all had decent lineups. Temporary tattoos were a big hit, as was the vampy fortune teller and the paint-a-horse booth (yes, two real white horses got painted).

After the Carnival we did a grew cleanup job all together campers and staff, and then we went to the Rustic Lounge theatre and watched the slide show of the Carnival… Which ended with a skit announcing the basketball game after dinner: Arowhon Red Gods against Tamakwa. So Evening Activity for the whole camp was the fab basketball game – with many camper cheerleaders all of course with red and white pom poms to co-ordinate with the Red Gods t-sorts (home made my camp staff of course). The entire camp cheered wildly for the Red Gods, and nobody cared that we didn’t win. Our team was all heart.

And as a community our kids and staff did a great job of welcoming the Tamakwa team, cheering when they got baskets and generally embodying respect and sportsmanship. I was proud of everybody today.

And now I have to go make a pie for Inter Girls – yes, more wild raspberries and yet another pie – All this sun is making it the best berry crop in memory! I can see a bunch of campers heading onto the lake in kayaks, to rehearse their routine for the kayak glow-stick paddle which they’re performing tomorrow night after Campfire for the whole camp. More on that tomorrow.
