Hot and sunny here today…

11 campers signed up for the challenge and did the two-mile swim today. Arowhon campers have been doing this swim since 1934. They paddle out the two miles to the Joe Lake Dam. Then each camper gets into the water and swims back to camp, accompanied by a canoe paddled by two staff as their lifeguard. All 11 campers completed the swim and the fastest time was 45 minutes. Hurrah! … Senior Girls got back form their canoe trips today and reported having a great time… At dinner the sailing staff did a fun skit to announce signups for the Wayne Peck Sailing Regatta, a camper/staff sailing race that we’ve been doing for more than 50 years…. Dessert tonight was ice cream and the entire dining hall made a great racket banging our spoons on our bowls in syncopated rhythm…. The Junior Boys pranked the Senior Girls after dinner, throwing water on them as the Senior Girls lined up for (phantom) candy tuck. The Junior Play, Matilda, was tonight, and the Juniors were fantastic. They acted and sang their way into our hearts. The fab sets made the show even better – including an almost full-size red car and a vintage TV… Right after the show, we were wowed by the break for the Inter Senior play, Across the Universe… featuring a 6 minute video (shown on the huge screen in Rustic Lounge, our theatre) of staff in colourful hippie costumes mimicking the Beatles all over camp, in boats, on rafts, in  trucks, and of course, sauntering… right into the theatre and up onto the stage to announce the show. Auditions are tomorrow.
