Hot and sunny, it’s Mini Camp Day

33 young children (ages 5 to 9) just arrived here and started their one day “taste of camp” Mini Camp day… This morning the mist was so thick on the lake that the canoeists on the  water were like wraiths slipping through the silvery mist. Last night was campfire, with silly songs and six soulful speeches from recipients of 10-year jackets… The theme running through all their speeches was how camp had frown them into confident leaders…with of course some laughs about how slogging through tough portages was awful at the time – but seemed to morph into a lifelong positive memory and a strong friendship bonding moment…. At the end of campfire we had a spontaneous singsong ending with our favourite song: Hallelujah. We’re not so terribly tuneful, but when several hundred of us sing together, campers and staff, we love it… Oodles of Inters have signed up for the special interest themed canoe trips – the themes of the various trips are are Survival, Meditation and Yoga, Gourmet Trip and Wandering in Nature…. Yesterday the 10-day Barron Canyon trip got back, and this afternoon Inter Girls return from trip.
